Our 10 acre Glampground is located in southern McDonald County, east of Pineville just 2.5 miles up K Highway, adjacent to the first point of access into the Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area🌲

Our sites boast a hot tub, use of our stage for events and three short term rentals on Airbnb & VRBO as well as select direct bookings to our legacy guests 🙌

This 2,106-acre Conservation Area is almost entirely forested and hosts 17.3 miles of multiuse trails that are open to hunting 🦃🦌 🐿️ and other wildlife as well as 🥾 🚴 and horseback riding 🐎 365 days per year.

Purchased in the early 1960's and originally named Huckleberry Ridge State Forest, this area was the first large forested tract acquired by the Conservation Department in southwest Missouri.

The forest primarily consists of oaks 🌰 and hickories with a few scattered groves of shortleaf 🌲 pine. Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area is on the edge of the range for shortleaf pine, Missouri's only native pine. The species used to be more abundant. In fact, the nearby community of Pineville was named for the abundance of pines in the nearby hills at the time of settlement.

🪵Indiscriminate cutting in the 1800's and past land use practices have significantly reduced the occurrence of short leaf pine in this region of Missouri. The Conservation Department in the past has utilized the practice of seeding and planting new pines and encouraging natural reproduction of existing pines on the area.

According to legend, locals used to harvest huckleberries, a type of 🫐 belonging to the Vaccinium family in this area.

🌳 Ozark chinkapin, native to only five counties in Missouri, is also found on the area. Ozark chinkapin, a close relative of the American chestnut, has also been ravaged by the chestnut blight since the late 1800's. 😔

A little Saturday sunshine is poppin’ out up on The Ridge after a sweet little rain fell early this am 🌧️

…there’s lots of morning shade up here at the RV park and the 🦅 sing all day long! Rhoda is ready for some more rain tho with that life preserver on 🤣

When Brittney, a school teacher, messaged me yesterday about staying at The Ridge Adventure Center but would be arriving in a semi and flat bed load I was all over accepting their reservation because I knew I had the space to accommodate them so they could have a night in a real cabin and out of the cab of their semi! What a blessing my guests have been 🫶🏻 safe travels to my new friends 😍

Major Improvements are happening here at The Ridge Adventure Center🐴 🏕️ Proof of negative coggins for horses are required to book!

Our newest addition is a deluxe barn red 50’x 20’ rectangular horse corral with gate! This will allow our horseback 🐴 riding guests the ability to let their horses free to lounge in their own space without having to be tied up! Even with multiple horses it allows for up to 10 to be reigned up to the fence inside the safety of the corral!

On top of that, there’s plenty of room in the shade to set up your lounging chairs to relax and sip a cold beverage after a long day in the saddle up and down the 17 miles of trails covering the 2,106 acres of The Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area which is right in our backyard! Or hit the hot tub! Your choice 💥 we have it all 🫶🏻 for couples or groups!

Over the past couple of years Northwest Arkansas has paved the way in becoming one of the countries top spots for mountain biking. Centrally located in the United States NWA is home to well over 300 miles of world class single track trails along with countless miles of greenway trails linking multiple cities together! Not stopping there, the area is also home to an amazing “newly renovated” bike park!! Rogers Railyard is on the brink of opening this amazing park that features asphalt riding surface along with permeable landers for each ramp!! To say we are stoked about this park is an understatement!!! Come check it out for yourself!!!

DJ and I are relaxing and watching Bentlee play in the dirt while I drink my coffee and visualize what the new Adventure Center will look like on this beautiful Sunday morning! 💫

We are thinking a 16x32 ocean blue metal Adventure Center finished out with electric only would look pretty up here on the Ridge! 🏡

AND.....I’m EXCITED to let y’all know in about a month or so we are FINALLY going to get the Sugar Shack moved from the Little Sugar Farmhouse property to her final resting place here at the Sugar Creek Adventure Center property!

Welcome to Sugar Creek Adventure Center, everyone’s favorite Kayak & Mountain Biking Experience in the Ozark Mountains of extreme Southwest Missouri. 🛶 🚲

Since 2016 we’ve been providing kayak shuttles and guided fishing trips to kayakers and in 2020 we are excited to announce the expansion and relocation of our business center, The Lil’ Sugar Shack, to a five acre tract right on the edge of the Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area.

This 2,106 acre tract of public land is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation and includes miles of mapped mountain biking and horseback riding trails for all riding levels, including fire trails suitable for families wanting to escape the city.

Just 3 short miles from where Little Sugar & Big Sugar Creek converge to form the mighty Elk River, this move will allow our guests to vacation overnight at the The Lil’ Sugar Shack and experience all nature has to offer while practicing safe social distancing that you won’t find in local campgrounds.

We will be offering Kayak & Mountain Bike rentals as well as guided trips throughout the year into the Huckleberry Forest to bike, hike, hunt wildlife, mushrooms and berries or just breathe in some fresh air on your own!
