- Christmas Eve Eve is a good time to put on some make up and head out to a holiday party! If you've never seen a Vereaux's Eagle Owl, they look just like they are dolled up and ready to roll! We pulled up next to this guy, resting on a branch (we think with a hurt wing), just on the side of the road in Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda. Oh ya, and their the largest owls in Africa! Bonus!

Snagged a sweet close-up of this Cape Buffalo giving me the "what's up?" as we meandered through Lake Mburo National Park. Buffalo don't scare easily, and when you stare one in the face you can definitely see (and feel) why!

I swear this picture is real, though it looks oddly fake. But check out the dark colors on this old giraffe. It really set a cool contrast to a lot of the other hangers-about we encountered in Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda!

Curious what the largest antelopes in Africa are? This is the Common Eland - second only in size to the Giant Eland. These massive antelopes can get up to 900kg (males) but are typically timid and move away when people get close. However, this little family let us get fairly close in Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda.

- This is one of my favorite birds in Africa - the African Jacana! Colloquially called the "Jesus Bird" because it's long, wide-spread toes allow it to walk on top of lily-pads, giving the appearance of walking on water! Check out those feet!! I caught this one leaping into the water in the Mabamba Swamp, Uganda!

Murchison Falls is so powerful, that the boats can only get so close without the engines really struggling. But wow is it beautiful! And check out the mini "island" that acts as a bird sanctuary, allowing for a nice mist bath! Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda.
