A-frame Reno #2 interior complete. I only had six weeks to transform this little gem
Yet, Robert built this A-frame in 16 days in 1967. I love that we were able to maintain the structure and make it beautiful again.

A-frame #2 renovation underway!

This little gem, the smallest and first of the three A-frames, was built in 16 days in 1967 by Robert Roskind. He then built the two adjacent and identical, larger A-frames. Additional A-frames (7 in total) were built around the 2-acre pond and this hippie commune became the epicenter of the counter culture for Chapel HIll. This particular A-frame is the site of the very first drug bust in Pittsboro!

Robert documents his life building and living in this A-frame in his book, Memoirs of an Ex-Hippie. Robert is an accomplished author and produced the record-breaking PBS series “The Do It Yourself Show”. He is now the owner and operator of the Oasis at Carr Mill, a botanical lounge, in Carrboro.

I am grateful that Robert had this incredible vision and I keep him updated on my progress. He is a visionary! I fell in love with these A-frames the moment I saw them when my family arrived in Chatham County six years ago. We purchased them exactly two years ago and I have loved every minute of bringing them back to life! Robert believes we were married in a past life. :)
