Please note: there is a typo in her bio stating that she currently works at Katz. This refers to a previous position.

Join us in welcoming Sylvia McCoy, founder of Burgh Bits and Bites Food Tours to our EmployHER Pittsburgh Summer Opportunity Fair Women-Owned Business Panel on June 24 at 1pm at Butler County Community College!

Sylvia McCoy is a proud first-generation Pittsburgher with deep roots in Switzerland and Germany. Fluent in English, German, and Swiss-German, she spent nearly a decade living and working in Switzerland.

Sylvia believes in taking nothing for granted—only with gratitude.

We've been highlighting this for awhile now on our food tours!
Pittsburgh's food scene continues to grow and food culture continues to expand!

"...the people creating Pittsburgh’s food scene now are drawing on the cuisines of places thousands of miles away from our Rust Belt town: Uzbekistan, China, Mexico, Tanzania, Puerto Rico, Sweden, India and more. They’re mashing up tradition with autobiography, and making Pittsburgh a city where you can get, yes, still, pierogies and pasta, but also: Uzbek plov served on the same menu as pizza. Gelatinous xiaolongbao quivering in a bamboo steamer. Chunks of fresh lobster nestled inside Puerto Rican pan sobao.
And, of course, Lulá’ La Chula’s Oaxacan molotes."

The people behind Pittsburgh’s increasingly diverse food scene are drawing on cuisines from thousands of miles away, with specificity and imagination.
