I think THIS was my last official time guiding a hike for ! When this booking came in a few months ago I was nursing a knee injury that occurred in July while guiding a hike - in this same route. I recall setting a goal that by the end of the season I wanted to be recovered enough to safely do this hike again. It has been a long road back full activity and I’m still testing the knee to see how much it wants to do in a day.

We hiked 4.6 miles in Lenox on the High Road from Kripalu to the Kennedy Cliffs overlook. I felt like slaying a 🐲by getting back out on the trail and sharing it with two people just seeking some peace and quite as a break from their full, responsible lives.

All intentions were met!

Berkshire Camino’s chapter is coming to a close on a high note. It was a glorious day to hike in the fullness of Autumn and feeling strong is truly priceless!

This was our “last” Berkshire Camino corporate group hike. I’ll say more about that at the end of this post…

First, let me say that the weather was stunning and the foliage was literally shining that day. We led the group on the Williamstown Woodland Loop route that starts and routes through . We planned carefully in advance to have a shortcut option in case the distance was too aggressive for any of the guests and of course none of them wanted or needed that! They all covered the 4.5 miles with ease.

The client pre-arranged for box lunches to be prepared by and we assisted by picking the order up and distributing everything from the tailgate of the Caminomobile. The group relaxed at the stunning reflecting pond at while enjoying lunch. We provided a printed map in every box to make it easy for everyone to self-guide themselves back to the Williams Inn at their leisure.

We nailed this one logistically and heard that the group loved the entire experience. Kudos to the team!

While Berkshire Camino is officially closing operations as a tour operator in a few weeks, there is a way for corporate groups to experience “Berkshire Camino style” hikes across the Berkshires with . Check them out if you need assistance planning a corporate group event. (Hint: they are a full service retreat/event planning service - not just hikes!)

And you never know who might show up as your hiking guides!!! 😉😃

Day 3 (the conclusion) of the multiday hiking journey in the Berkshires is complete! What glorious weather we had. (Thank you Jo for being the weather fairy - well done 😉).

On the final trek from Stockbridge to Lenox the group visited the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy enroute to Lee. Yet another delicious picnic, this time catered by . A highlight of the experience is following lunch with a visit to for ice cream! The final letting go ritual at Laurel Lake was a moment to reflect on anything that we can let go of in order to lighten our mental, physical and spiritual load. And then the celebration at including a Prosecco toast! Len, one of Berkshire Camino’s guides who was sidelined from being on the multiday team joined us for the arrival at The Mount and to see a few guests he’d hiked with this Summer.

Our closing dinner was enjoyed by all at . The team there did such a great job considering how busy it was for a Wednesday night. The final nights rest was at Berkshires. Guests raved about the hot showers they so deserved after a 10 mile hike!

This multiday was special for so many reasons. Logistically it was managed and facilitated to perfection by our crew: Nancy, Sabrina and Anne (with me in the background of course 😇). The guests were such lovely souls and grateful for the TLC as they called it!

I’ll reflect and share at least once more about this final multiday. Thank you for following along!

Day 2 of the multi day hiking journey was a peaceful day under gently falling leaves. Our guests always find the Housie Rail Trail magical and in awe of the grounds and buildings . We are grateful to have the opportunity once again to picnic in Chesterwood’s orchard. While there have been a number of organizations that have welcomed Berkshire Camino, Chesterwood’s leadership hands down has been so accommodating, despite us visiting on their day off!

The nearly 9 mile walk ended back at the for one final night in .

Day 1 of the Southern Berkshires multi day hiking journey is in the books. The overnight rain clouds parted just in time to reveal a gorgeous day. A random rain storm found our pilgrims along the way and it actually created a magical and peaceful moment under the canopy of leaves.

The topic of aging and awareness of TIME seems to be among the deep conversations. And then of course are the Box Burgers and refreshing and creative beverage choices at ! This is always a fan favorite for lunch stops!!

Everyone was tucked in at the for an evening of swimming in the heated pool and hot tub and dinner in Stockbridge.

One little red leaf means one more FREE guided walk with the district this Summer. Due to a rain date a few weeks ago we are adding one final walk this Saturday, August 24,2024. 4-5pm.

We’ve had local residents and visitors join us this season and the overwhelming feedback is that they gain so much information and appreciation for Great Barrington. The story we tell includes some GB history related to the Revolutionary War, abolishment of slavery in MA, innovation, what that castle is smack dab in the middle of the downtown area and recognition of W.E.B Dubois, GB’s native son. And more!

It is 1.3 easy miles with little elevation change and is accessible for most people including those who use mobility assistance. The weather is looking good and you can enjoy in the evening starting at 6:30. That gives you time for browsing in shops and having dinner. It’s a perfect Berkshires Summer bucket list item.

Meet behind the Great Barrington Town Hall. We depart @ 4pm.
