One little red leaf means one more FREE guided walk with the district this Summer. Due to a rain date a few weeks ago we are adding one final walk this Saturday, August 24,2024. 4-5pm.

We’ve had local residents and visitors join us this season and the overwhelming feedback is that they gain so much information and appreciation for Great Barrington. The story we tell includes some GB history related to the Revolutionary War, abolishment of slavery in MA, innovation, what that castle is smack dab in the middle of the downtown area and recognition of W.E.B Dubois, GB’s native son. And more!

It is 1.3 easy miles with little elevation change and is accessible for most people including those who use mobility assistance. The weather is looking good and you can enjoy in the evening starting at 6:30. That gives you time for browsing in shops and having dinner. It’s a perfect Berkshires Summer bucket list item.

Meet behind the Great Barrington Town Hall. We depart @ 4pm.

We are curious about something…is 8-10 miles too much walking when you think about a multi-day hiking retreat with ? Some of the big tour operators in this space have daily hikes ranging from 3-6 miles at most.

I ask especially because our Northern multi-day route seems to be scaring people off. With an average of 6-8 miles and a fair amount of elevation gain, interested guests are opting for the “easier” Southern route.

It would be so helpful to hear some feedback. We want to curate based on your needs and interests. Thanks in advance!

Something that we are very proud of at is that we make it possible for casual hikers and guides of all ages to get out on the trails.

This past week we hosted this lovely couple of 80-plus year olds on two private hikes. They had freedom to go at their own pace while benefitting from having Len as their guide and new friend. They choose routes from our online menu of day hikes and booked for the days and times that they preferred rather than being limited by a pre-set schedule.

It’s a mindset: Age is not a barrier. Curiosity is timeless…

Where did this storm come from? And at the worst time! Unfortunately we are cancelling the Downtown Great Barrington Walking Tour sponsored by Downtown Great Barrington Cultural District. It’s not safe or enjoyable to out for a walk from 4-5 today. Be sure to come to GB for Berkshire Busk following the storm. They start at 6:30pm.

This is the view from Kennedy Cliffs on Yokun Ridge. It overlooks Parson’s Marsh, a property, the village of Lenox,MA and October Mountain in the distance. On a hot July day, when the canopy is green, Fall feels like many days away. And yet…in only two months this view will be starting the shift to a spectrum of foliage colors. It’s not too soon book for September and October…we have only so much capacity. Early bird gets the worm! 😜

This Independence Day weekend was amazing! Despite humidity and several waves of thunderstorms, all 8 booked day hikes went off without a hitch.

Our guests were a solo male, solo female, two best friends, three husband/wife couples and a family of 4. Two parties came on multiple days.

Connection was made. Confidence was built. Relaxation, reflection and rewards for all.

Thank you to everyone who joined us…’s best weekend since the business was founded 4 years ago.

This year we’ve perfected the business model by offering all 8 day hikes every day from early May to early November with multiple time start times to choose from. It’s like having an ice cream store stocked with a flavor for everyone that is open every day. We’re able to pull this off with the support a crew of amazing hiking guides. When guests book, we staff the hike. So far, we’ve always had a guide when guests wanted to go!

If you want to join us for a day hike and want some help choosing the route that’s right for you, email, text or call us. Contact information is in the bio.

Our small but mighty guided hiking business is honored to receive recognition in 2024 from for being in the top 10% of experiences reviewed on their site!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We’ve consistently received 5 stars with the exception of literally one reviewer in four years who rated the experience a 4 and said we did a good job but the mindfulness aspect wasn’t his cup of tea.

💕We wouldn’t have reviews without guests and followers so thanks to every one of you out there who’ve supported us!

Berkshire Camino is pleased to announce that we’ve been invited back for a second year leading a guided walking tour for the downtown district.

It is an easy, all persons accessible walk around downtown Great Barrington, MA. Learn about the rich cultural assets and a bit of history about GB. It’s fun to imagine what it was like in years past and appreciate how amazing this downtown is now.

Join us for FREE thanks to the Town of Great Barrington, and support from a grant from the council.

Walks are planned for six consecutive Saturdays starting on July 13, 2024. Arrive 10 minutes early for the walk. We depart from the bandstand behind the Town Hall at 4pm. The walk is approximately one hour. Pre-register on our website (link in bio) to ensure you get a spot. Spaces are limited to 20 guests. Walk-ins are warmly welcomed! Severe weather cancels. We walk in light rain.

So, who’s planning to come along?! 😎

A spectacular day for a hike to the summit of Mt. Greylock and back. It’s about 6.5 miles. Uphill for the first half and downhill on the return. The immersion in the forest is full and complete and the sense of arrival and accomplishment at the summit is a highlight!

P.S. by request and based on resources, you can request a ride back to your car 🚙 if you only want to hike up and not down. Advanced reservations are a must for this option.

I’m impressing myself with how hospitable I’m feeling in the moment! 🤪😉

We’ve been asked a few times to provide baggage transfers and transport for self-guided hikers who are charting their own path on a multi-day hike in the Berkshires. After deferring in the past, this time I decided to say YES. The stars were aligned.

For this engagement we’re transferring bags for four days and providing a ride from Mt Greylock back to the guests’ vehicle parked in Lenox. That’s where they started their hike. They’ve done the whole trek on foot.

Any entrepreneur with good sense will test out ideas and learn from it. I’ll be the first one to admit that I may have been shortsighted to not jump on this opportunity sooner. I’ll also say the fee isn’t cheap…we need to make it worth allocating the resources to make it happen. Our guests saw the value and have told me that they wouldn’t have been able to pull this off so smoothly without Berkshire Camino. That’s our value proposition- to make it easy, safe, convenient and engaging to explore the Berkshires on foot.

Is this something you would like to see us offer? Maybe we’ll say yes a few more times to continue learning before we jump in with both boots! Please share your thoughts. Thanks.

Today’s hike celebrates BabyMooning in the Berkshires, Berkshire Camino style. Our guides Len and Nancy introduced our expectant parent guests to an easy yet very satisfying hike at Pittsfield State Forest that we call the “Tranquility Loop.” A portion of the hike is on the Accessible All-Persons Tranquility trail and then continues along adjacent trails that are more challenging. For a 1.5 hour excursion it has all of the woodland feels and a stroll along a babbling brook that is the perfect spot for our ritual of letting something go.

A four legged furry friend came along as well! Unfortunately/fortunately everyone was so present for the experience that they didn’t snap a pic of the pup!

We are curious to see how many guests bring their well behaved and trail experienced dogs now that our hikes are all private. Dogs are welcome on all but one of this year’s curated routes.

A few of our crew members did a training/scouting hike today on Yokun Ridge today. We have a new hike that starts/ends at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. It features a beautiful scenic overlook of the village of Lenox. October Mountain is in the distance. We tweaked the route a bit to shorten it up. It took us four hours and we know that most guests prefer something a little shorter. We’re modifying it to 3.5 hours/approx 4.25 miles/approx 800 feet elevation gain. It’s a very satisfying hike!

We call this one Yokun Ridge to Kennedy Cliffs. By the way, did you know that we offer all 8 of our Woodland Exploration hikes this season EVERY DAY OF THE WERK WITH MULTIPLE START TIMES?

It’s all about our value proposition; making it easy, safe and engaging for casual hikers to explore the Berkshires on foot. Visit the link in our bio to check out all of the options. All booking is online. Email or call us if you’d like to ask questions…and make sure this is a good match for you.

Today we hosted a group of men on a fun and lively hike at Monument Mountain. They sure lucked out with a beautiful afternoon and gorgeous views despite anticipating the possibility of rain. These remote team mates meet in person 2x and year - what a great idea they had to spend it in the Berkshires!

Thanks for showing our guests a lesser known trek at Monument Mountain!

Thank you for recommending us. 😊

Day 3 of the Southern Berkshires Multi-Day Hiking Journey is complete! A 90 minute rain delay in the morning and a little Camino magic to avoid the afternoon thunderstorms brought it all together. Our lucky streak of never having a multi-day hiking day rained out continues!!

This group of women were so much stronger than they thought they would be covering nearly 25 miles in 3 days. No blisters across 10 feet and 100 toes (including Tes, their Berkshire Camino guide)!

Gratitude to for hosting lunch in Lee, a perennial stop for farm to cone ice cream, and for providing Berkshires touches along the way.

Much gratitude to our guides Tes and Nancy for taking the reins and delivering a top notch, deeply personalized experience for our guests.

Day 2 of the Multi-Day Hiking Journey is now in the books. Or shall we say in the journal. I spy with my little 👁️ one of our guests making good on an intention to get back into a flow of writing. Little steps lead to bigger accomplishments…

Today’s gorgeous weather, the ease of the trail despite the distance from Housatonic to Stockbridge (about 8ish miles) and settling into the rhythm of the retreat is creating more ease and relaxation.

Tonight our guests are experiencing all that the has to offer from the hot tub and heated pool to the dining, shopping and people watching on the porch. The journey progresses tomorrow to Lenox, the final destination for the Southern journey.

Day 1 of May Southern Berkshires Multi-Day Hiking Journey is a wrap! Everyone is getting their trail legs and dropping into Nature. Confidence comes with every step and stepping into the unknown takes courage. We applaud everyone for being curious, open and on the journey.

Thanks as always to for feeding our hungry hikers. A special shout out to the team at , our first night inn and for having breakfast ready for us to hit the trail with fuel in our tanks.

Tonight the group is settling in at the iconic . More on that will be shared tomorrow.

Big shout out to Tes and Nancy for being a great Berkshire Camino crew team. 👏👏

We hit the trails at Kennedy Park in Lenox on a glorious Spring Sunday morning with a group participating in an artists-residency program at Berkshires. They are using the Berkshires as their muse to inspire their art for 5 days. Our walk @ the speed of curiosity was intentionally slow and encouraged everyone to stop, explore and bond every step of the way.

We are looking forward to seeing them again at a reception at Berkshires to see first-hand what they’ve created!

The first Berkshire Camino hike of the 2014 season was graced with moist and fragrant Spring Earth and ephemerals. We are still waiting for the big green surge to happen…it’s days away!

This is one of 8 hikes on our day hike menu for 2024 - the season of Woodland Exploration. Monument Mountain to Flag Rock Housatonic/Great Barrington MA. Thanks Lisa for guiding!

No filter…this is what 96% totality during the Solar Eclipse 4/8/24 looked like at 3 something in the afternoon. It sort of looks like a cloudy day but the felt sense of it was cool! We he d the peepers chirping and birdsong as if it was approaching dusk.

And maybe even the very best part was the friendly banter with people along the trail who were there for the same reason. Humanity finds a way to connect!

Did you experience it? What was it like where you were?
