House is fine from what we can tell! Thank you for your prayers. Thanking God for being spared this round. Water made it about 3/4 way up the yard. Power is now back on. The relief is palpable after this past year.
Just broken-hearted for those who are suffering with catastrophic damages. We really do understand.

🙏🏻Praying for Florida and for our beloved little island. Storm surge is on all our minds after what happened just south of us last time. We’ve all endured such catastrophic loss and work to rebuild in 11 months since .

The VERY old dryer that came with the house a few years ago worked perfectly until recently so we got a new one last month. It is definitely things like this with island living that make a difference with preventative issues and making sure things are kept up with or replaced when needed. She works like a dream!🧺

🚤Exciting! Finally got the last bit of our dock finished that was put off after the hurricane. The dock is now a whopping 65 feet.🙌🏼

We’ve got a few new temporary additions at the house. The island home of our dear friends was entirely destroyed by Ian and only a few items underneath the home made it through. The picnic table is one of them🍔🌭. So we are holding onto these things for them for the next few years until they rebuild.🏡

Flashback Friday: We were so glad that we took a photo of each entry our guests left for us in our guest book because it was submerged in rainwater and ruined from Ian. Decided not to have one anymore (was so sad to lose that) and will simply treasure any messages you send.🙂

For years we had a disagreement on just how long it took to get to Stump Pass going oceanside vs bayside from the south end and now at Sunrise Bay. One of us was insistent that it took 20 minutes longer one way (bc of the slow zones) and the other said it was almost no difference. So last summer I timed it without mentioning to anyone 😎 and we were able to see that either trip would be almost the same…just a matter of which route we wanted to take☺️. Which do you think took only 4 minutes longer?🚤

Here is the direct video walkthrough. We are FINISHED!🙌🏼 It had been totally renovated after we bought it in September 2020 but people were right when they said it would be even better than that. It IS. Spray foam insulation, far higher quality vinyl plank flooring, new walls, ceiling, subfloor, roof, windows, Hardieboard siding, entire electrical…just SO much that is new and fantastic. Thank you all for your kind support along the way - we are so happy to be able to share it once again.

A month ago we had arrived to no power and FPL later showed up to fix it. The gentleman in charge told me that our transformer was in really bad shape and likely the reason for the issues.
I asked him if he could send in a request to replace. 🙏🏻 He said he would and two weeks later he arrived with a bunch of men and equipment, replaced it, cleaned out the brush next to it and reanchored the anchor that had come out of the ground.
This was a HUGE thing to be given!🎉
Our next door neighbors, who share the line with us said that, to their knowledge, it’s the first time it’s been replaced in 50 years.😱
