Little Gasparilla Cloud 9

Little Gasparilla Cloud 9 Cloud 9 on the beach - Little Gasparilla Island! Your vacation destination to relax & enjoy life at I fell in love with everything about the island.

In 2008, my boyfriend brought me to Little Gasparilla Island for the first time. In 2012, we came back as husband and wife and brought our daughter. She opted to stay on the island the entire week and skip the Florida attractions. Like us she was hooked. We took her fishing, shell and shark tooth hunting and taught her how to boogie board. In 2016, we came back with all three of our children. We v

isited the Florida sites, but gave most the time to our little island. It was during this time that my husband and I started talking about how perfect it would be to retire on Little Gasparilla. We found some land and when we got home we started negotiations. We closed on the property and came back in the spring of 2017 to see the land and start to visual our dream. Pilings went up in the fall of 2017 and the house is starting to become a reality. My husband and I are not ready to retire yet, so we made the decision to rent out our dream so that others can come to paradise and enjoy it as much as we do. We would love for you to come visit and share your memories. One visit and we are sure you will be hooked like us, and we would love to hear about the memories that you have made. We will continue to post pictures from our visits and of the creation of the house. Rentals will be available in 2018. We are so excited to have you make our home and island yours.

The walk from behind the house to front. We lost the boardwalk but have a lot of sand for a lovely walk to the beach. House is back to its pre-hurricane state, minus the owners storage underneath. Just need greenbag pickup.

Again, thank you to family, friends and neighbors who helped. Won’t name you, but know we are very grateful and blessed to have you in our lives.

Looking through some old photos, and realized I missed Cloud 9’s anniversary!
We broke ground in November 2017. What an adventure! So grateful for Glen, Sari, Karl, Les, Aron and Max for making our dream come true and for also rebuilding that dream when needed after storms. We didn’t just gain a beautiful home but a great group of friends.

Took a break from hurricane cleanup to go shelling. Found all these in two short walks at sunset on two different nights. Love the colors of the island. Amongst the cleanup always looking for the positive.

Looking at past photos, and comparing the beach view from Cloud 9. Cannot believe how it has changed since construction of Cloud 9 began. Mostly due to Hurricane Ian, Helene and Milton. You can even see the difference in wind damage (Ian) to water damage (Helene and Milton). Nature and the residents rebuilt after Ian and they are working hard to do it again. ❤️🌴🐢🙏🏻

Feeling grateful for neighbors who were able to send photos of Cloud 9., and to keep an eye on the house for hazards until we can get there.

These are the photos we have collected since Milton. We were very fortunate to not have lost the house, but we did sustain some damage. Hurricane Helene took out our boardwalk, as I previously posted. With the help of family and friends we were able to find a lot of the pieces and get them in place ready to be put back together. However, Milton had other ideas and we lost the boardwalk from the beach to the house. The sand that Helene and Milton left in place of the boardwalk is remarkable.

We also lost the owner's storage area located under the house. This does not affect the rental of Cloud 9, but this was a big loss to us and will be a huge cleanup project. In addition, we lost the outside shower, part of the bayside steps and had damage to the beach stairs and deck. We haven't been able to get inside the house, so the inside and the deck furniture/grill are unknowns know.

It's pretty overwhelming to think of the next steps, since we had just spent a solid 4 days putting a good dent in the Helene cleanup. However we know how very fortunate we are. We can't stop looking at the photos shared of the rest of the island, barrier islands and of the mainland. It saddens us, but we are determined to get Cloud 9 and LGI beautiful again. Thank you to all the residents and volunteers already hard at work. 🌴☀️🐢🐬

Well here we go again…Cloud 9 is still standing but there will be a lot of cleanup. Feeling heartbroken for our little island and its residents who keep taking a beating. We did it before and can do it again. 🌴🐢☀️

A lot of people ask me where Little Gasparilla Island is located. I always say our little paradise is on the gulf side between Tampa and Fort Meyers. Thinking of my description and looking at this map today makes my heart sink. Praying for our little island, it’s residents, and all others in the path of Milton. 🌴🙏🏻🐢❤️
