Travel Tip Tuesday: when to book
The biggest question I have clients ask is they know where they want to go and when, but when is the best time to book? That answer depends on the trip but for most things the earliest is the best. The reason is that travel companies have fluctuating prices based on supply and demand. While Disney or Royal Caribbean may have an amazing sale, the odds are if you booked when they first opened your rate will actually be much less then the current sale price. Also I can usually price adjust to a current sale if it’s better for many trips. My busiest season of the year is January-March when most book their trips for the year. Travel Tip Tuesday: I booked the vacation now what?
The vacation has been booked but now what do I do? The type of vacation will depend on that answer. My job as the travel agent is to guide you with what your next steps are. Sometimes that is planning itineraries in detail and exploring various add on options such as Lightening Lanes or express passes at theme parks, shore excursion and internet/drink packages on cruises or transfers on all inclusive vacations. There are also important dates that you will need to know depending on your vacation such as dining reservation dates, final payment dates and insurance add on information. This is why it is important to use a travel agent so that you don't miss something of importance. Keep in mind my services are not only free but I've been doing this a long time and can often save you hundreds of dollars and help guide you with the necessary vs unnecessary add ons.

Travel Tip Tuesday: Alternatives to Car Seats
As a travel agent I can not suggest what option you choose for your peace of mind and Childs safety but I can share various options when it comes to traveling with small children. There are two types of alternative carseats that I have personally used when my children were smaller. The first is the ride safer vest. We have used this a lot because it fits in a bag that will fit in a backpack easily so is very convent when using an uber when traveling. The other option that we have used is both the mifold booster and the bumble booster. These are both very compact. The mifold easily fits in a backpack. Do your research before using any carseat alternative but here are a few options that I have used myself in the past.

Travel Tip Tuesday: Traveling with multiple families
Planning your own families vacation can be stressful, planning a trip for multiple families can be overwhelming. Using a travel agent can help elevate the stress and streamline the vacation for everyone. I often work with families from 3 rooms to up to 50 rooms....yes 50! I have planned destination weddings to large birthday celebrations. The benefit of using a travel agent is not only does everyone contact me individually (or through you if you choose) but I can take separate payments, organize separate flights or tweak dates as needed and even make sure everyone is where they need to be for important events via our itinerary. Depending on the size of the group there are also many great group discounts that I can set up for your trip. Whether it be a family looking to travel with their parents or siblings or a large group looking to celebrate a special occasion, using a travel agent is not only free but can save you money and so much time.

Travel Tip Tuesday: Traveling with kids and car seats
Car seats are a question I get asked about a lot. There are many options when it comes to flying with kids and rental cars. Most rental car companies do offer the option to rent a carseat. However, I strongly recommend bringing your own. Kids under 2 can be a lap child for free on the plane. If you prefer to get them their own seat or if they are over 2 you can bring a carseat that says FAA approved on the tag. Children in carseats will be placed in the window seat. I have personally flown with or without car seats and mostly forward facing. When my kids were small we often opted to do lap infant option but I found carseats to be less stressful because they are in their own environment. Depending on the age of the child a binky, bottle or sippy can be helpful during take off and landing.

Travel Tip Tuesday: Traveling with Kids
Traveling with kids can be stressful but that's my specialty. As a parent, I have traveled with my children on multiple occasions. For plane rides I suggest downloading movies and shows that they like on a phone or tablet so they can sit back and relax during the flight. Another suggestion is to give them responsibilities. Kids love it when they have a job or task set before them. My kids are often in charge of their own suitcase or the "map" reader to navigate the airport or place we are visiting. These small tips can help create memorable and fun vacation for the whole family.
