Cruising: Itinerary vs ship?!

Cruising is one of the best ways to see multiple places in a short time. There are many things to consider when picking a cruise. (Budget, cruise line, itinerary options and ships) narrowing it down can be both stressful and overwhelming. In the next few weeks I’ll be comparing different cruise lines and ships vs itineraries.

The two lines I’ll be examining are my two personal favorites for both families and couples. Royal Caribbean and Disney.

Travel tip Tuesday: how far in advance should you plan a vacation?

Often times people think the closer to the vacation the better the deals. While there are limited options closer to that may open better deals, the best deals are often 12-18 months out for cruises, 9 months out for all inclusive vacations and 6-12 months out for theme parks. The sooner you book the better the deal in most cases. I have clients booked for fall 2026 cruises already and clients calling me yesterday for spring break 2025 still. Now Is the best time to plan summer, fall and winter 2025/2026 (December-February) now is also the best time to plan a cruise for next spring!

Often times the deposits are minimal but can save thousands verses last minute travel.

Travel Tip Tuesday: when to book
The biggest question I have clients ask is they know where they want to go and when, but when is the best time to book? That answer depends on the trip but for most things the earliest is the best. The reason is that travel companies have fluctuating prices based on supply and demand. While Disney or Royal Caribbean may have an amazing sale, the odds are if you booked when they first opened your rate will actually be much less then the current sale price. Also I can usually price adjust to a current sale if it’s better for many trips. My busiest season of the year is January-March when most book their trips for the year.
