4 the Spectrum Prep, LLC. In 2007, Nikki Moses saw a void with limited ABA services in the Collin County area. Our service far surpasses direct treatment.

We help children with autism attain a better quality of life through applied behavior analysis (ABA) treatment. 4 the Spectrum Prep helps build functional independence, communication, social, play, self-help, academic skills and a Love for Learning. As a result, Nikki founded Consulting 4 the Spectrum to meet the overwhelming needs of families. Consulting 4 the Spectrum was the first ABA service

provider to employ therapists and offer full-time in-home treatment services in Collin County. Over the course of her experience, she began to see that many learners were having challenges with generalizing skills to various environments. To fill a void in the community, in 2009, Nikki opened her first ABA treatment center in Frisco, Texas and later relocated to Plano, Texas in 2013. We currently offer center base services with a focus on direct treatment, parent training, group learning-social groups and private and public school IEP/BIP guidance. Nikki has always placed emphasis on quality over quantity and felt it necessary to control growth so that we never lose sight of why we do what we do. We have maximized our collaborative efforts with related service providers such as speech and occupational therapists to increase positive outcomes for our students. A significant part of our service structure is our holistic approach to learning. Preparing students for everyday life, interacting with others and being able to connect with the world around them is the cornerstone of what we do. Nikki’s vision has always been to develop an effective way to bridge the gap between ABA and education. As many of our students have transitioned to mainstream and inclusion settings, we have seen a tremendous disconnect with their behavioral and educational needs being effectively met in school settings. Our mission has been to provide group learning opportunities in conjunction to direct therapy so that other learners can generalize skills to a group setting with a behavioral approach. We expanded our program in January 2017 and as a result, 4 the Spectrum Prep is designed to prepare learners for school age group learner readiness.

Can providers who work with children rather they are neurodivergent or not, stop 🛑 taking a cookie cutter approach to learning! Not all children learn the same, just like we as adults don’t.

Some of us are kinetic learners, tactile learners, visual learners or auditory learners. Many children we work with require a creative and authentic approach to skill development. Adapting our approach to learning to the unique needs of each child is essential to creating effective and meaningful educational and behavioral experiences. Tailoring our approaches not only helps foster positive experiences, but it also helps our children develop a love for learning and boost their self-confidence!

Planning ahead is a wonderful practice. Planning gives direction, and by design, outlines a path for us. However, we can become so hyper-focused on the “complete plan” and “what’s to come” that we lose sight of “what is now” and making the most of it. We need to relic in the “now” to ready ourselves for the pivot.

In ABA, we plan all the time and we quickly learn we can take 5 steps forward and 2 steps back. It’s easy to dwell on what didn’t happen, what could happen and even get discouraged in the process.

When working with neurodivergent learners; it’s important to keep at the forefront-“what did happen”. You can easily miss the “now”, the small feats and approximations to the end goal. No matter the challenges yesterday or the hurdles down the road tomorrow, there is always something positive and beautiful happening. We just have to be open enough to see the potential and possibilities!

There are days that will bring a feeling of uncertainty and defeat. No matter the ups and down, remember you are loved even when it’s unspoken. See the joy in the small steps and the gravity of hope in that. There will always be a light shining through!

I had the pleasure of participating in the Collin College career fair. It was reminiscent of my college days, having a chance to meet students, explore their career goals and disseminate information regarding ABA and our organization.

I also met many students who desire to transfer to my Alma Mater, UNT. Go “Mean Green”:). It definitely provided a solid foundation of rich experiences that gave me my start to where I am today.

Grateful!

Today is World Autism Awareness Day…
When I reflect, today is merely a snapshot of the journey that many families face everyday. It’s a reminder of all of the ingredients needed to embody and magnify awareness, acceptance and inclusivity: gentle love, voice of hope, kindness, compassion, unwavering support, strength of diversity and equity and thinking out of the box to create possibilities. It reminds me of my foundation of the love and passion I have for anyone with Autism. 💙

This poem I wrote over 3 years ago still incapsulates what Autism means to me…

Remember to “Power Up”

ABA Treatment is hard work, but we also play hard too all day, everyday. It’s a balance. You have to keep it fun and animated; and learn how to get in touch with the inner child in you! Play is not play and can easily become a chore to the learner if it’s not enjoyable, which can impede your ability to tap into the learner’s motivation. My motto is, “It’s an absolute necessity to get creative and think outside the box”.

Let’s just say, we had a Mario kind of day!

A known misconception in ABA is it will lead to robotic responding. Is it ABA or the provider who is designing the ineffective treatment program?

What better way to disseminate about ABA than sharing with nearly 100 students eager to make the big leap from Middle to High School and exploring career options in the health field. I love ABA and enjoyed facilitating discussions about the field with multiple groups of students passionate about their future!

I ended with this note to all of the students: there are past experiences in each of our lives that shape us into who we are, who we will be and who we can be. I remember in middle school not knowing what I wanted to be when I became a adult. My love for my cousin with autism and wanting to learn more about other children like her is my foundation.

What was yours?

“Everybody is a work in progress that is nearing excellence every time you are tested. Each test is apart of a bigger path ahead. We just have to be brave enough to discover it”

I wanted to share a treasure of a resource with our families and others connected to autism. One of my past professors from University of North Texas who has been more like a mentor and friend for over two decades, Dr. Shahla Ala’i-Rosales, along with Peggy Heinkel-Wolfe wrote, “Responsible and Responsive Parenting in Autism: Between Now and Dreams”.

Every parent and professional should have a copy. It should become the framework for positively understanding and connecting with families with autism!

This book is the “secret sauce” and it is like a river that flows with gifts in the sun with love, compassion, truth, connection and humanity.

Thank you Nagla N Moussa for always being so generous to families with creating such a beautiful event each year and facilitating bridges for parents to connect with providers.

Our Story

In 2007, Nikki Moses saw a void with limited ABA services in the Collin County area. As a result, Nikki founded Consulting 4 the Spectrum to meet the overwhelming needs of families. Consulting 4 the Spectrum was the first ABA service provider to employ therapists and offer full-time in-home treatment services in Collin County. Over the course of her experience, she began to see that many learners were having challenges with generalizing skills to various environments. To fill a void in the community, in 2009, Nikki opened her first ABA treatment center in Frisco, Texas and later relocated to Plano, Texas in 2013. We currently offer center base services with a focus on direct treatment, parent training, group learning-social groups and private & public school-IEP/BIP guidance.

Nikki has always placed emphasis on quality over quantity and felt it necessary to control growth so that we never lose sight of why we do what we do. We have maximized our collaborative efforts with related service providers such as speech, occupational and music therapists to increase positive outcomes for our students. A significant part of our service structure is our holistic approach to learning. Our services far surpass direct treatment.

Our mission has been to expand our preparatory group learning program so that other learners can generalize skills to a group setting with a behavioral approach. We expanded our program in January 2017 and as a result, 4 the Spectrum Prep serves as preparatory group placement program for children with autism.

Consulting 4 the Spectrum continues to have the same goal: to make a difference in lives, one child at a time.
