Jula Osten, the artist who hand-drew the new map of Pleasant Prairie, filmed behind-the-scenes videos during the map's creation and is highlighting “Easter Eggs” hidden throughout. 🗺️🔍

One of the most significant symbols on this map is the top portion. Dedicated to natural habitats, including Hackbarth Trail and the Lake Michigan shoreline, it represents the 20% of land in Pleasant Prairie that is protected for its environmental and historical significance.

While the lower part showcases notable people and places from the past 181 years, the actual map portion gives you an idea of all the places there are to visit in the present – whether you're a visitor or a lifelong resident.

Once you’re all shopped out, explore Pleasant Prairie's pet-friendly spaces. Prairie Farms Trail features a leashed walk/hike near the dog-friendly beach access at 88th Ave and Park Drive.

If your pup needs somewhere to run off-leash, Ingram Park (complete with a bone-shaped pond!🦴) is the place to go. It has two sections, one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. Fees for dog park tags apply.

This week is perfect for an adventure! 💫 Gather the whole family for memorable fun at Boundless Adventures WI, just a short drive from Pleasant Prairie.

With 9 high ropes and obstacle courses, all ages are welcome to swing, climb, balance, traverse, and zip line through the treetops. The park is in the 200-acre Bristol Woods Park in the Kenosha County Park system and offers over 4 miles of hiking trails and the Pringle Nature Center. 🌳🍃

Fresh off the press! Stop by any local grocery store for the latest FREE edition of the Smart Reader that features Chiwaukee Prairie. Nearly 400 acres of this land in Pleasant Prairie (off the shores of Lake Michigan) is protected - in large part thanks to generations of Village residents.

Thank you to Happenings Magazine and writer, Elaina Myers, for featuring our local Naturalist, Kay McClelland.

For a deeper dive on the cover: the stickers we are holding are from Visit Pleasant Prairie’s recently commissioned map that was hand drawn. The sticker design is a snippet of the overall map, but is prominently featured at the top. The turtle, nestled in prairie grass near our abundant water supply and dazzling sunrises/sunsets, is featured due to the prominent role Pleasant Prairie has in its life cycle. Many turtles come here to nest and raise their young before swimming off and exploring the world. The turtles always come back though, as they repeat their life cycle here in Pleasant Prairie.

We are thrilled to unveil a brand new map of Pleasant Prairie, that is truly a piece of ART! Commissioned by Visit Pleasant Prairie and brought to life by map artist Jula Osten. 🗺

In this map, you’ll see landmarks and PLENTY of hidden “Easter eggs”. For example, how we depicted more than 20% of our area is protected land (top portion of the map). Don't miss the 'People and Places of the Past' section, showcasing notable figures from our history. Plus, did you know the S.S. Wisconsin Shipwreck is just 6 miles offshore in Lake Michigan? 🛳️

Attended by over 400 people (a record!), THANK YOU to those who braved the chilly weather to celebrate the Pleasant Prairie Twelfth Night Holiday Tree Bonfire tonight! New additions this year: The Lola Bard Holiday Carolers, inflatable characters for people to take photos with, and coffee being available! We were unexpectedly short-staffed at our drink and treat stations, so thank you to our attendees for accommodating it being self-serve instead. We’ll ensure that doesn’t happen again.

The excitement for tonight’s Pleasant Prairie Twelfth Night Holiday Tree Bonfire is building as we are putting the final touches on setup! Every person (ages 10+) can be entered into a drawing to be selected as the official Cheermeister and gets to light the HUGE tree bonfire pile. Don’t forget to purchase this year’s commemorative branded ornament from the Pleasant Prairie History Museum!
