Have you seen the Portage County Historical Society exhibit on Women's Athletics in Portage County? It's on display for a limited time at Heritage Park, and now the stories will permanently live on through the newly released book! Exhibits are open on Fridays from 12pm–4pm and Saturdays from 10am–2pm this summer. The book is available for purchase at the General Store Gift Shop!

The Sandbar is one of the coolest hidden gems in Plover! 🛥️

ONLY IN WISCONSIN: THE SANDBAR 🍺

We already know Wisconsin is littered with bars on land (the third most per capita!), so it was only time before we started serving on sea. (Okay, more like river, but we were committed to the alliteration…)

If The Sandbar doesn’t scream Wisconsin, we don’t know what does. The floating oasis is a seasonal hot spot on the Wisconsin River–a one-of-a-kind riverboat (click here for pictures) that seats up to 35 people and is staffed with a captain, cook, and bartenders. While the Sandbar can be rented out for private cruises and events, on most days, you’ll find locals floating down the river, nursing frozen margaritas, “Pirate Punch”, and “Painkillers.”

The boat is based in Plover, which is in between Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point near the center of the state.
