- OUR STYLE - Every once in a while, we get guests who really didn't understand what they were renting: a quintessential -era . Lovingly restored to its era's charm and simplicity. A recent HGTV article: 40 Things That Make Your House Look Dated. There were before & after pictures of trendy kitchens, baths, and bedrooms that were all "gorgeous" in their day. Easily 30k worth of suggested updates! No. We can't keep up. That is why we decided to really "date" our cottage by choosing items reminiscent of times gone by with a focus on the , the '40s, and '50s.... when the cottage was in its heyday and in full swing of and gatherings. We basically stopped the clock and upgraded the behind-the-scenes things like wiring, plumbing, and insulation. We kept the well-loved furniture that found a new life and purpose at the cottage. Well-loved items we remember growing up will remain....the oil lamp, old photos, bird books, binoculars, bedspreads, matlasse coverlets, the glider, wicker chairs, rockers, Adirondack chairs, duck decoys, ....after seeing some of the bathroom fixtures in a restoration store for a lot of money, we chose to keep two bathrooms as original as possible. The bathrooms are small because nobody lingered in a bathroom when the lake and the great outdoors were waiting to be enjoyed. Rental information can be found at Houfy.com/7886

You can use the waterproof blankets as a picnic mat, sand proof beach blanket, or waterproof tarp while you are backpacking. Going to a sporting event? These are great for sitting on the grass or ground, giving you a great spot while you're watching the activities.

We're so excited to for everyone to visit in the upcoming seasons! Joshua, who visited last summer, had some kind words to say about his stay:

"Wow. This place is a true family oasis. Alecia and John seem to have thought of everything. Whether its a beautiful day out on the lake on their kayaks and canoe or a rainy day inside playing games with the family. or, best of all perhaps, sports in the back on the volleyball and badminton court. Oh and then relaxing in the hot tub after a long day of fun! The house has everything you need and then some. The description is thorough but still can't convey how amazing the place is. the house itself is just beautiful and so well decorated and organized. I don't know, I just can't say enough nice things. Even with the crazy storms in the area that literally washed away roads and bridges, this area stands out as pristine. Family fun to the absolute end! Thanks Alecia and John!"
