Availability Update!!!

We are pleased to announce that starting May 7th we will be unavailable indefinitely due to a long term rental. We would like to thank all that have given us their business over the past year as an ATV vacation rental, and a special thanks to all who shared our posts and stories to help get our name out there! We plan to make further improvements during this period with hopes to return to providing exemplary short term rental services in the future, but for now, we have decided to go the long term route.

We still have some availability in April for those needing last minute accomodations, but we would like to recommend those searching for short term rentals to fellow hosts in the town of Pocahontas including:

The Crooked Road Open Jam is happening at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace on the first Thursday of every month, including tonight!

You don't have to play an instrument to enjoy the Jam, though it's open to those who
do. Either way, just come prepared to have fun and be impressed by the level of talent Southwest Virginia has to offer. Entertainment is free, and dinner is available. Music starts at 6:30!

Our first open house was a great success thanks to so many great people!

Our little area has so much to offer!

Whether it be riding the .mccoy.trails or , hiking, trout fishing with , touring the Pocahontas Exhibition Mine, riding the in Tazewell, or just a mountain getaway for some fresh air and slow pace, we truly have it all.

At The Adkins House, we don't want to be just another place to stay. We want to be a place where our guests can be fully immersed in the history, culture, food, music, and people that truly make this area like no other.

Special thanks to Mayor Ben Gibson, Northern District Tazewell County Supervisor Maggie Asbury, and Tazewell County Director of Tourism AJ Robinson for their assistance and support

I still remember the moment I took this picture, I stepped out of the car into a puddle that soaked my shoes and the snow was beginning to fall much harder but I was spellbound by this view of Pocahontas, Virginia. There wasn't a soul around and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Despite all that, I could feel the presence of the men and women who once made Pocahontas a coal boomtown. Their voices have long since been silenced and they are no longer here physically, but their spirits were very much present that day.

The snow picked up right after I took the pic making the scene so hazy that it felt like my window to the past had closed on me. Sadly, The Cricket building is no longer standing making this a great reminder of why what we do to document the past is so important.
