The Gambler Deep Sea Fishing Boat

The Gambler Deep Sea Fishing Boat Join us aboard the Gambler for open boat fishing all year long! The Gambler was custom built in 2005 by Maine craftsmen.
(431)

She is extra heavy construction, built for high speeds and high seas. The Gambler is powered by 4 Detroit/MTU engines. With a total of 3000 horses powering 4 props, she is capable of speeds of up to 30 knots! Our vessel also features the newest, most advanced electronics with over $50,000 worth of fish finding equipment. Night fishing is illuminated on the Gambler with high intensity flood and dec

k lighting - and she's the only boat to feature under water lights built into the hull! You can find hot and cold food and beverages at the galley in our heated/air conditioned lounge. The Gambler is the widest boat in her class, providing extra stability and deck room for your comfort. She also boasts huge built-in fish holds for our offshore big game trips. Our business has been family owned and operated since 1949. The Gambler's friendly, experienced Captains and crew are happy to assist both beginners and experts. We welcome and encourage families and children to join us on our fishing excursions for the adventure of a life time! Our customers saftey, satisfaction, boat cleanliness - and of course, catching fish - are our main priorities!

Gambler crew and myself had a really good time seeing our customers and meeting with potential new Gambler anglers. The show was busy all three days.

This season, Gambler is also sponsoring with Okuma reel and rod company to premier some their gear on board. They have some great equipment and we are very excited to partner with them.

In the picture attachments below, check out the information about a canyon trip that they will be joining us on --and a chance to win a free canyon trip!

Starting April 1st, Gambler will be running our 10AM till 3PM taug trips, fishing daily except Fridays. This is a fun, relaxing trip and a good way to clear the cobwebs.

On Fridays throughout April, Gambler will run a 24 hour tilefish trip. We had some beautiful big tilefish last year. Looking forward to more of the same.

Last season tilefish, we had very good trips on 6 out of 7. Even the guys that came out for the first time tile-dropping did well --as long as they paid attention and took advice from crew. Method and patience are key. On our tilefish trips, we are focused on quality over quantity. Many of our tilefish last year were in the 20-60lb range.

For these trips, the captain needs to watch the wind report very carefully. Too much wind --over 20 knots-- will most likely cancel a trip.

The trips are limited to 24 passengers or less. There are enough bunks for all. Food will be available on board, or you can bring your own (we have a microwave on our galley counter, which you are welcome to use).

Gambler has a limited amount of new conventional or electric rod and reel available.

Bring a large cooler, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and pillow. Wear boots and bring rain gear.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions.

I'm including some tilefish pictures from last season below.

It is with a heavy heart we share:

MaryAnn (Albano) Bogan, 83, of Brick passed away on January 8, 2025 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.
She was born in Neptune, NJ, and grew up very happily in Asbury Park, daughter of James & Agnes (O'Brien) Albano.
She graduated from St. Rose HS where she met her lifetime partner & spouse, Captain Robert (Bob) Bogan. who passed away in 2019. They were married in 1960 and lived in Pt. Pleasant and then Brick where they raised their five children and then enjoyed their grandchildren. They also loved travel, including Italy, Hawaii, California, Florida and many US states.

MaryAnn attended Ocean Co. College where she studied business administration, thusly serving as the bookkeeper of their family business, the party boat "Gambler" in Pt. Pleasant Beach. She also worked for many years as a bank teller, at Ocean National Bank up to Bank of America in Pt. Pleasant.
She was happiest being with her family and loved their get-togethers. She was an avid reader and did word & number puzzles and all kinds of crafts. She really enjoyed birding and walking anywhere. MaryAnn always enjoyed Alumni parties with St Rose classmates and meetings with friends. She was a beautiful, caring soul and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was pre-deceased by her in-laws, Jack and Elsie Bogan, husband Captain Bob, brothers Jimmy and Dominic; sisters Lena, Theresa, and their spouses.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Captain Robert Jr. & Susan; Stephen & Adriana; Andrew & Kim; Lee-Anne & Matt; and Captain Michael & Pam. Grandchildren Tara (and husband Captain Chris & step-daughter Parker), Stephen, Paige, Andrew, Sean, Jack, Olivia, Ashley & her daughter Annalise, and Marie.
She is also survived by her relatives in the Albano Family – her sister Bunnie & her husband Jerry, Charlie & his wife Arlene; in the Bogan Family – Barbara, Marie & Ernie, John & Lynn; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and in-laws, and friends, especially Denise.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 4-8pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. Family reflections will conclude the evening at 7:30pm. Cremation was private.

Condolences may be sent directly to the family by visiting www.obrienfuneralhome.com

12/27 Update on the Offshore Seabass Trip

Capt Bob has been monitoring the weather for your offshore trip, which would leave Sunday night. He was hoping that the seas forecast would improve but it is showing worse, with seas over 10ft.

Unfortunately for all of us, he has decided that it is best to cancel.

Please call 732-295-7569 If you already had a booking.

We do not have any further trips for this season, but we are looking forward to our exciting spring tilefish trips and other exciting trips in 2025

Thanks for your understanding

Our offshore sea bass trip on Monday was good fishing. You had to work at it but I believe everyone caught their limit. Some extra big porgies in the mix, too. One more trip, leaving Sunday night into Monday. Still spots available.

Went out for striped bass today. Slow morning but by 11AM I saw some readings and we caught a good mix of slots and bonus fish with a few throw-backs.

We did not have enough to go tomorrow (Friday) But will be headed out Saturday by 7:30 Wind and seas look good --don't let a little rain keep you home; we all have rain gear

Very light on customers yesterday, NE wind and drizzle was more than anticipated. But we decided to give it a shot. The seas were lumpy but manageable.

Starting drifts just North of Seaside in 60+ feet, we caught stripers ranging in size from 24" to 35". It was pretty good action on A-47 lures, despite the fast drift. By mid-morning the seas and rain were getting heavier and since we had a decent catch, we returned a little early.

No sail today
No sail tomorrow (lack of sign-ups due to weather forecasts)
No sail Monday (We will be offshore Sea Bass fishing)

There is still open spots for our offshore sea bass trip, leaving tomorrow night. Just call the office and leave a message if you'd like to join us. 732-295-7569

Gift certificates available -- buy directly online or leave a message and someone will call you back --732-295-7569

Hoping to get out at least a couple more times for stripers between the 26th and the 31st. The striped bass are moving, so there is no guarantee but Gambler will give it her best shot.
