#1.1 Art of Perfect Landing:
Mastering traffic pattern procedures is essential for safe and efficient arrivals at non-towered airports, providing a standardized flow of aircraft within the terminal area and enhancing predictability in a potentially hazardous environment. Join us as we delve into the intricacies of traffic patterns, transforming the once perilous rectangular course into a streamlined pathway to successful landings.

Departure/Upwind Leg (500-700ft AGL): Depart the runway and ascend to 500-700 feet above ground level (AGL). This phase offers a panoramic view of the airstrip and surroundings, enabling you to assess conditions and chart a successful approach.

Crosswind Leg (700-900ft AGL): Transition smoothly from the upwind leg, maintaining 700-900 feet AGL. Here, refine your heading and position, preparing for the critical downwind leg.

Downwind Leg (Established at TPA - 1000ft AGL): Descend to pattern altitude, usually 1000 feet above airport elevation, and establish on the downwind leg. This segment parallels the runway, providing stability in the dynamic environment.

Base Leg: Initiate a controlled descent from pattern altitude to 500-600 feet AGL. Adjust throttle and configuration, preparing for the transition to final approach.

Final Approach: Align precisely with the extended runway centerline, maintaining a speed approximately 1.3 times the stall speed (Vso) of your aircraft. Descend smoothly towards the runway, maintaining 500-600 feet AGL for a graceful landing.

Did our first fly out and golf on Thursday. Mark C and I flew to Hamilton Mt and played a round at Whitetail golf course. Beautiful day, light winds, and Montana wildlife all over the course. We were told the greens keeper counted over 104 goslings and that was not all of them. Up

Had a puppy flight yesterday with one of my clients, Kathy rode in the back to see how he would do on oxygen. Next week he hopes to change a 27 hour 7 stop drive into a 2 hop 7 hour flight.

Just got home from a month long trip.
Did instrument training from Montana to Florida, then spent a week in the Bahamas, followed by the Sun n Fun airshow for a week, and then instrument training back to Montana. Spent a night in Kansas and had a bird building a nest in the engine over night. Great trip, and lots of fun with everyone we met.

Spent the night in Hilton Head last night, flew over a Marines Airfield getting to the airport we landed at. We added Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina to our landing states

Left on Tuesday for Florida working on River's instrument rating. We have done approaches and landings in Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Tennessee so far. Airport is Custer SD, the old trading post is in Chadron NE, at the fur trading museum. River is getting flight training and history lessons.
