I honor of our trip to Prague, we wanted to share 10 fascinating and lesser-known facts about the Czech Republic:

• 1. The Czech Republic has more castles per capita than any other country.
With over 2,000 castles and chateaux, it’s a haven for history buffs. Karlštejn Castle and Hluboká Castle are just the beginning!

• 2. The oldest university in Central Europe is here.
Charles University in Prague, founded in 1348, is not only a stunning piece of architecture but also a cornerstone of European education history.

• 3. Beer is cheaper than water.
The Czechs are the world’s largest beer consumers per capita, and in some places, a pint of beer costs less than a bottle of water.

• 4. Prague’s Astronomical Clock is a medieval marvel.
Installed in 1410, it’s the oldest working astronomical clock in the world, featuring a unique hourly show that tourists adore.

• 5. The Czech Republic is home to the world’s largest ancient castle.
