We always look forward to the wild turkeys returning to the area. We’re averaging between 15-20 per day. Unfortunately the peacocks don’t like to share their space very much.

One of the first major signs that Fall is upon us, is the arrival of the wild turkeys. Eastern wild turkeys are found all throughout Florida. They prefer forested habitats such as hardwoods, pines, and cypress swamps. Their diet, depending on time of year and habitat, consists of seeds, nuts, fruits, and insects.
We have had significant flooding in the Spruce Creek area after last weeks rain, this has driven many creatures up from the wetlands searching for higher ground. This Eastern Yellow Rat Snake was photo captured resting in a tree limb that had fallen during the storm. This non-venomous snake species is common amongst the wetlands and pineland’s of Florida and is nonaggressive unless provoked.
Creek Rising…..again! A year ago this weekend we experienced record shattering rainfall and flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Fast forward one year later, no hurricane , but much of Volusia County is under flash flood warnings associated with wet weather that just won’t go away. Spruce Creek is overflowing its banks in our area with water levels approaching those of Fall 2022 and more rain in the forecast. Flooding like this is not a once in a century event anymore. #herewegoagain #mothernatureincharge
Back to School - Come Back to the Creek!
We are so excited to announce the arrival of 5 new baby peacock chicks! This is the first time in 3 years that we have had a successful hatching, and this is the 2nd one this summer! Our peacocks are free range and susceptible to predation by native wildlife. Fingers crossed for our new little ones.
