Palmetto Moon Cottage is a beautiful 1mile walk to Sands Beach and Boardwalk
Port Royal SC

to the birth of The Sands in Port Royal. This photo is from when work crews were building the boardwalk along Battery Creek in 1987-1988. The newspaper clipping says they are "going to add a sandy white beach adjacent to the boardwalk by 1989." We're sure glad they did. Little did anyone know back then that this would become one of the most beloved spots in the entire area. 🙌
