The country, the animals, the people are all intoxicating. In Africa time is not important, relationships are important. If you are having an important conversation with a friend but have a meeting in 10 minutes, your friend comes first. It was a hard concept for us expats to get use to but what an amazing way to live. After doing 7 years of volunteer work (I'm a licensed clinical Social Worker),

I was broke so (reluctantly) returned home. I went to work in an emergency room as a Social Worker but longed for my life in Tanzania so began taking people from the hospital system on the trip of a lifetime, an African safari. I was able to return to a land I loved and visit friends, having long conversations. I realized there were other fascinating countries/people to see and meet. Then in Jan. 2011, my Social Work position was cut from the hospital budget and I found myself without a job. This opened up the opportunity to expand my love of travel, people, wildlife and other cultures. I specialize in arranging small groups 6-10 people for travel all over the world and I travel with them to make sure that all goes well and to feed my passion and love of travel and adventure. I have recently taken classes to become my own independent travel agent so can arrange and book all of my own groups.
