The new start to a new year is always a time full of reflections. I want to share mine.

At the close of 2022, I submitted entries to the Summit International Awards, which recognize creative excellence by small and medium-sized agencies worldwide. The awards are judged on the strength of the idea, quality of ex*****on and ability to persuade. With 19 countries, 62 categories, 3400+ submissions, I'm humbled to share that the team I led creative for earned two Golds, a Best of Show Award, and a 2022 Top Agency Award. Gold was awarded for New Corporate Brand Launch of Great Lakes Cheese (OH), the nation's largest natural cheese packager. A Gold and Best of Show was awarded for the Logo Redesign of CuliNEX, a food innovation & product development company (WA).

In the hopes to inspire others whether independent contractors, agencies or clients, I share that what stood out in these projects is relationships, energy and a fresh approach to doing business. Our clients were (and continue to be) an active part of our team-- our collective family of diverse talent. There were no walls, we trusted each other, and remained flexible, open and transparent. Not often does work happen this way between a team of independent contractors (or an agency) and clients.

Winning is not an easy feat; it's an honor. It's hard work, and it can be fun especially if the collection of people on the team are super strategic, truly experts in what they do, and have great approaches and personalities. I’d like to personally thank Kathryn Huhn for her strategic lead on all projects, big or small. Our partnership has been invaluable and I appreciate the out-of-box thinking, attention to detail and knowing every project we do together is always strategically solid. I’d also like to thank Linda Diteman for her creative genius and being my design wingman over the years. It’s so fun to share these awards with you both, as you had an integral part in not only the success of these award-winning projects, but so many over the past years that I can say I’m really proud of.

So it goes without saying, that together, you can achieve excellence. Choose the right people to surround yourself with, and consider a fresh approach - as well as have a blast at your job!

This was a sentimental day - feels like an end of an era. The first photoshoot of my career was in this studio 25 years ago with Michael Shay. I love this team, their talent, and they've always felt like family.

I was privileged today to be the last client Polara Studio had in their existing space before they move to a new studio location! Excited to shoot in their new space! And taking with me all the fun memories had in this one.

Reinke Creative was recently hired to rebrand a BtoB company who is an innovative leader in the food development/plant-based/clean label industry. The big presentation yielded the dream response from the founder/CEO of the company. This is an amazing testimonial shared by his Director of Marketing, Kathy Stephenson: "He doesn't give flowery kudos unless they are deserved. “I’ve seen lots of these over the last 17 years and these are ones I can see using,“ is a big statement. They’ve been trying to get him to redesign for years and it will happen now."

I don't always work alone - I also work with a cherry-picked team of talented, brilliant minds - so I'm grateful for the collaboration that resulted in this top-tier creative.

Toasting to all the successes and those who have helped me along the way - astonished at how fast the time has flown by. When you do what you love, it's not work, it's passion - and I'm super excited for all the years still ahead.

Once upon a time. Circa 1994. A senior final project was directed to be interpreted from rolls and rolls of sketches to an actual computer file for final submission - and all fit on a floppy disk. There were no classes to teach computer graphics at this time. So myself along with other seniors in my classes, had to be completely self-taught. That's how I learned Freehand, Photoshop and QuarkXpress.

As of late, I've come across two package designs that have showcased the Gestalt Theory at its finest! Remembering my college professor teaching this for an entire term in Package Design, and how challenging the final project was for that term. So seeing this always makes me happy when brands take advantage of the wallpaper effect this can have. Gestalt Theory: an organized whole that is perceived as more than the sum of its parts.
