It is bittersweet to announce that Beam & Anchor will be closing its doors by early Fall. So much has shifted in the world, in our city and in our personal lives since we opened our doors back in 2012, and it’s in that very spirit of change, that we have decided to move on from this supremely sweet chapter and focus our energies elsewhere. We feel profoundly grateful for the twelve year run we had - for the relationships built, for the support of our loyal customer base and for the simple joy of opening our doors each day to see what conversation or creative riff might come our way. Our enormous thanks to each and every one of you for being part of this retail experiment - and just to be clear, it was an experiment and one that worked way better than we ever could have imagined.

Starting on Saturday July 13th, everything in the shop will be discounted 20%. The vast majority of display and furniture will be included in the markdowns. Use the code summersendoff to receive the discount online. Help us close out this chapter by spreading the word, coming to say good-bye and picking out a few last treasures before we close the doors.

In addition, we will have some exciting updates very soon on what’s going to move in once Beam & Anchor has officially closed for business. This is a monthly opportunity to honor whatever grief journey your on - give it room to breathe - to be seen - to honor whatever you’ve been tasked to carry. We will practice working with grief internally in meditation and we will explore externalizing and moving it through creative practice. The Sunset Listening Club is a monthly meditative opportunity in Portland, Oregon. Held at the We Touch the Earth building, this is a chance to sit and meditate with a small group in a beautiful space. All are welcome. Hello B&A Community. My name is Mia and I am the manager here at the shop. I’d like to invite you to my upcoming interactive installation: What is a reason you get up in the morning? @reasonyougetup is an on-going interactive installation I started in 2007 where visitors to the exhibit are asked to answer the titled question on a small card which is then hung on the gallery walls. The collection has grown to over 1,300 cards and has shown in Japan, Kauai and now Portland. It will be exhibiting at @lukesframeshop on Albina from 9/9-9/30. Please join me for the reception this Saturday 9/9 (6-9PM). There will be live jazz by the @bluecranes and delicious finger foods. Postcards and stickers will be for sale and all profits will be donated to IRCO (Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization). Hope you can make it!
