One thing that is certain is change.

ON THE LEFT, a photo of the Hosteria Las Torres in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile, as it was in 1992 when Amy and I first went to Torres del Paine. Back in 1992 you had to walk to the hosteria from the park entrance station at Laguna Amarga (about 5 miles). We did not stay at the hosteria in 1992, but instead continued up the trail for another 6 miles or so to the campground at the base of the Torres del Paine. This campground is no longer available for overnight stays.

ON THE RIGHT, a photo of the Hotel Las Torres as it exists today. Much, much larger, and you can drive there from the Laguna Amarga entrance station.

I've indicated the original "Lenga" lodging unit in both photos.

Almost the same vibe I felt two weeks ago gazing across the Strait of Magellan toward Tierra del Fuego.

Same worlds 7,626 miles and a hemisphere apart. It’s a small world after all.

Norway is open to all travelers without testing, quarantine, or registration requirements. COVID protocols within Norway have also been lifted. We first ran this trip in July 2019.
