Congratulations to Rolly, our June Employpet of the Month! Rolly is an adorable 10-month-old long-haired mini dachshund belonging to Kimmy, the practice manager at Winter Hill Veterinary Clinic. Rolly accompanies Kimmy to work most days and is guaranteed to spread smiles and joy to everyone he meets. This little guy loves a good weigh-in, hoping it leads to treats! He's aced all his exams and vaccines, earning him the "goodest boy" title and a perfect score on the cuddler and face kisser scales.

It's World No To***co Day. We all know that smoking is bad for humans. But did you know that pets are more exposed to chemicals from smoking than we might realize? If you've seen how smoke stains furniture and walls in a smoker's home, imagine the residue on pets' fur or feathers. This "smoker's residue" is full of harmful chemicals. Pets in smoking households not only breathe in the smoke but also ingest these toxins while grooming themselves. Keeping this in mind can help us make healthier choices for our furry and feathered friends.

Introducing Donna, an LVT and the practice manager at Animal Emergency Clinic of the Hudson Valley. Donna has been working in veterinary medicine for about 24 years. Drawn to animals because of their innocence and her desire to help them, she has dedicated her career to their care.

Donna leads her team with a positive approach, inspiring those around her and staying committed to the hospital’s mission. She loves working with her team and feels rewarded when they make positive changes together that directly improve the care they provide for the animals. When she’s not working, Donna enjoys exercising, hiking, and gardening. She has a passion for horror movies, Halloween decorating, and prop building. She shares her home with a rescue dog named Phantom, a Schipperke named Elvira, and, soon, a black German Shepherd.

Donna’s commitment and leadership make her an invaluable member of the team. Thank you, Donna, for all that you do!

Meet Gianna Dettorre, Rarebreed program manager and our HQ team member in the spotlight! Gianna is the definition of a team player, always ready to roll up her sleeves and jump in to get the job done. Living in New Jersey with her beloved dogs, cats, and an adorable baby goat named Lucy, Gianna has always had a special place in her heart for animals. With a bachelor’s degree in animal science, a minor in equine studies, and experience as a licensed vet tech (LVT), Gianna brings invaluable expertise to the team.
Gianna plays a crucial role in managing the Learning Lab, focusing on user experience, training for program managers, content development, and CE approval. Her hands-on experience and dedication ensure that our Learning Lab is intuitive and robust, helping our practice team members support their teams effectively.

Always eager to learn, Gianna is enhancing her skills in instructional design, marketing, and data analytics. Fun Facts: Gianna’s favorite animal is a cow 🐮 , and if she were given a million dollars, she’d open a farm-animal sanctuary.😊

Saugerties Animal Hospital, in Saugerties, New York, is in our May spotlight. With three dedicated doctors on staff and a top-notch care team, Saugerties takes exceptional care of all the pets that come through the door. They offer a wide range of services, from routine check-ups to advanced treatments like laser therapy and dental care. Recently, the hospital took a big step towards environmental sustainability by going paperless. Now, clients can easily communicate with the hospital via text and email. One of the many things that makes Saugerties Animal Hospital special is its long-serving team, some of whom have been there for decades. The longest is an amazing 38 years!

Their clinic pet is a sweet senior dog named Jazzy (pictured below), who was left at the hospital last summer along with a note saying that the owner, who clearly loved him very much, could no longer afford to give him the care he needed. Amanda, a vet tech with a very big heart, welcomed him into her home. When Jazzy was diagnosed with serious health issues, Amanda took to social media to try to find his original owner to offer them the opportunity to say goodbye to Jazzy. Unfortunately, the search was not successful. But today, despite his diagnosis, Jazzy is doing well and continues his job of brightening their days.
