You're invited! Please join us in celebrating our new Artistic Director Vin Shambry on Friday, March 25, during a building and community awakening and gallery exhibition of Vin's abstract and fluid art.

The exhibition celebrates Vin's 40th birthday and officially reopens the gallery space at Cerimon House, where we will be featuring local artists with a focus on Black, Indigenous, and artists of color.

A nationally renowned actor and storyteller, Vin started painting fluid art five years ago. "My passion for fluid art stems from its uniqueness and simulation of motion," Vin says. "No two pieces will ever be the same and its individuality intrigues me. I look forward to every day that I am able to paint. It is my hope that others can see the movement and feel the emotion in my pieces."

Stop by and bring a friend next Friday, March 25, from 5 - 9 p.m. and join us in celebrating Vin, community, and art! This event is free and open to all and will include live performances, including a live painting Vin will do at 8 p.m. with proceeds benefitting Cerimon House. See you there!

Violence is not evenly distributed in our society, nor are gun deaths.

While the causes are complex and the solutions call ALL of us to make positive change, we can do things that should be simple. We need to be willing to show up and raise our hands as leaders, workers, allies, and agents of positive change.

Here is one initiative that embraces our churches, our musicians, our citizens, our political and government leaders — all focused on finding ways to end violence and elevate its impact on Black history.

Be still, rooster. Lazy indeed. Shall we be chastened by such a fowl mouth? Give us one good reason to drop-kick our house-jammies to the corner and head out.
