9:30 a.m. Community Walk
Hosted by the Seacoast African American Cultural Center, Green Acre Baha’i Center of Learning, and Seacoast NAACP, and led by The Leftist Marching Band, walk the 0.8-mile journey from Kittery, Maine, to the African Burying Ground in Portsmouth.

10:30 a.m. Drumming Workshop
Theo Martey, Director of the Akwaaba Ensemble, will lead a drumming workshop for children and parents that is sure to get you in the spirit.

11 a.m. African Drumming
Experience Black joy through the healing rhythm of the drums and dance provided by the members of the Akwaaba Ensemble. Reverend Robert Thompson will conduct an opening ceremony to honor the ancestors who survived upon these shores. Taking place at the African Burying Ground.

7:30 p.m. The Magic of Motown Concert
End the day with "The Best Motown Show in the Country" at The Music Hall in Portsmouth. This show features a cast of 18 musicians who perfectly capture the sights and sounds of Motown with pitch-perfect harmonies, dynamic choreography, and costuming.

Meet at John Paul Jones Memorial Park on the Kittery side of the Route 1 Memorial Bridge. Wakers will gather by 9 a.m. and begin the 0.8-mile walk at 9:30 a.m. to the Burying Ground at 386 State Street, Portsmouth, NH, led by The Leftist Marching Band.

The 97.5 WOKQ Chowder Festival, presented by Avery Insurance this Saturday, June 1 is officially SOLD OUT!

As always, the Summer Kick-off side of the park is open and free to all. πŸŽ‰

Come down and check out the complimentary live music on the main stage with local favs, Jacob McCurdy Music and His Large Adult Sons.

Plus kid-friendly activities like bubbles, face-painting, button making, tie-dying, and giant lawn games from our friends at Everyday Details. We have a fun raffle planned and lots of yummy treats available from The Prop!
