all the fire departments in the county need help. We’ve heard all the excuses. I can’t commit to (fill in the blank), I’m not always available, I’m too young/old, I don’t know anything about it. They are just excuses. We are all volunteers. We can when we can and we can’t when we can’t.
This is an incredible job you get paid for in ways that aren’t money. If you’ve ever thought about it, contact the VFD in your area. The hardest part, is walking through that station door the first time.
We all live in the communities we serve. How can you make a difference?
Every fire department across the country needs help.

LIGHT UP THE TRACE ON THE DARKEST DAY OF THE YEAR!
Saturday, December 21st 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
On December 21, the Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. Since 2021, the JDC Economic Development District, in partnership with local civic and religious groups, has brightened the Longleaf Trace with luminarias—candles in paper lanterns—honoring our loved ones and remembering those who have passed.
This free event, a two-time recipient of Community Economic Development awards, adds a memorable glow to your holiday season. Come walk the illuminated trail or simply drive by to enjoy the view.

Join us for an evening of family fun and local entertainment starting with a live nativity at Carson Station at 5:00!

‼️THE JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP IN IDENTIFYING THE SUSPECT IN THE MURDER OF 43-YEAR-OLD RODRIGUS ADAMS.‼️

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 0012 hours the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call about a shooting that took place at a bonfire on Bassfield Cemetery Road located in Bassfield Mississippi. Upon arrival, Deputies noticed 43-year-old Rodrigus Adams lying in the driveway of the residence shot to death. Witnesses stated to the deputies that it was at least 200 people at the bonfire, but no one saw anything, just heard three to four shots fired. HEADS UP: All eyes will be on PTS #18 this week. It is forecasted to become Hurricane Rafael later this week as it moves northward into the Gulf. As of now, it is forecasted to weaken some before it reaches the northern Gulf Coast. This will likely threaten Mississippi by the end of the week.
