The Trench mill at Silver City, Nevada was built in 1860 and originally known as Sparrow & Trench. This was one of the larger operations at the time, reported to have cost $40,000 to build and having numerous structures in the complex. In 1865 it was listed as having 20 stamps with a capacity of 30 tons per day. In 1869 this mill was purchased by John Mackay and James Fair, men that would later be known as two of the Comstock’s “Bonanza Kings”.

UPDATE: MISSING PERSON HAS BEEN LOCATED.

INCIDENT ALERT: Currently units from multiple agencies are looking for a missing person in the Senator Highway/Spruce Mountain areas. There is a DPS Ranger flying over assisting with search efforts. We will update with any information we receive.

MISSING PERSON INFORMATION:

Male, approximately 6’ 2” and 180lbs. Wearing blue flannel, green pants.

Was last seen walking west on Spruce Mtn Road, towards Senator Highway.

Towels... gosh, if we could only show you how many towels we go through... with almost 175 animals in the shelter right now (and towels can only be washed/used so many times) we are in need of towels for our furbabies! They are warmed and wrapped around the dogs after surgery, they are in the kennels with them, they are used after baths...they are really needed! If you want to clean out your linen closet and donate some, we'd appreciate it... our precious animals would appreciate it too! New, gently used... we'll take them all! We have a big yellow donation bin out at our front entrance where they can be dropped off or you can come to the main Adoption Lobby during business hours and drop them off. THANK YOU!
