The countdown is on for Australia's eclipse quintet—a series of five total solar eclipses between 2023 and 2038. On July 22, 2028, a stunning total eclipse will sweep across the Australian mainland, from the Kimberley region of Western Australia, through the Northern Territory, south-west Queensland, and right over Sydney!

Throwing it back to March 2016, when we embarked on a truly unforgettable journey to Bali for the Total Solar Eclipse!

Our adventure began with the vibrant Balinese New Year celebrations, where we joined locals in the creation of ogoh-ogoh, mythological figures, and participated in the sacred Melasti rituals. As the eclipse approached on March 9, we found ourselves in a lush, fertile valley, witnessing the awe-inspiring moment when the Moon passed before the Sun. The journey took us through Bali’s serene landscapes of terraced rice paddies, jungles, and ancient temples, while offering the chance to explore beyond the eclipse with trips to Borobudur, Borneo, and Komodo National Park. A perfect blend of culture, nature, and astronomy🌞🌑

🔭 Mark Your Calendars! On February 6, 2027, an annular solar eclipse—commonly known as the "Ring of Fire"—will grace the skies! 🌒🌕

This eclipse will travel across parts of South America, and unlike a total eclipse, the Moon will obscure most of the Sun, leaving behind a brilliant ring of light around its edges.

The path of annularity will be visible in Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay and TravelQuest will be there!

Michel Girardin - Trip Leader/Manager

Michel has been involved in the South African eco-tourism industry for the past 36+ years. Having worked with well known safari lodges such as Sabi Sabi and Djuma ….Michel now consults in the eco-tourism field, and his consulting experience, in places as varied as Madagascar and Bhutan, stands him in good stead when dealing with operations at diverse destinations.
His association with TravelQuest started in 2002 when he coordinated our South African Solar Eclipse tour in Venda. Once exposed by TQ, he was instantly hooked on this unique astronomical niche. Visiting exotic places to view “when the crocodile eats the sun” (a Shona proverb for a solar eclipse) has become a passion for Michel. He has subsequently worked for TQ as a Trip Manager for eclipses in Turkey (2006), China (2008), Easter Island (2010), on the Paul Gauguin South Seas cruise (2012), Ethiopia (2013), Faroe Islands (2015),Bali Indonesia (2016), USA (2017), Peru/Chile (2019), Antarctica (2021), Australia (2023) and soon to be Spain (2026) and Egypt (2027).

Throwback! Svalbard Arctic Eclipse - March 17–23, 2015

On the frozen barrens of a remote Norwegian archipelago, we discovered what, for many adventurous travelers, represents the final frontier of the Earth’s beauty. ✨

Our Svalbard Arctic Eclipse adventure was nothing short of magical. Nestled just 1,100 km from the North Pole, a tiny village served as the perfect base for our 4-night stay, where we embraced the Arctic landscape through thrilling activities like dog sledding, exploring glacial caves, and snowmobiling across pristine white terrain. Each night, we ventured out in search of the mesmerizing aurora borealis, its vibrant "dancing curtains" lighting up the sky. The highlight, of course, was witnessing the total solar eclipse on March 20, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Dr. Zahi Hawass is a renowned Egyptologist known for his groundbreaking work in archaeology, particularly in the Valley of the Kings and Giza. He served as the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, leading major excavations and preservation efforts, including the discovery of royal tombs and the restoration of iconic monuments like the Sphinx. is also famous for his media presence, appearing in numerous documentaries and authoring several books. A passionate advocate for the preservation of Egypt’s heritage, he has become one of the most influential figures in Egyptology.

Tomorrow, on February 28th, stargazers will be treated to a rare alignment of seven planets when Mercury joins six others already visible in the night sky: Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. This stunning celestial event offers more than just a visual treat; it can also provide valuable insights into our Solar System. The alignment happens when several planets line up on the same side of the Sun, a rare event that occurs due to the different speeds at which each planet orbits. It’s a unique opportunity to marvel at our place in the cosmos!

Stargazers will be treated to a rare seven-planet alignment in February. This is what scientists hope to learn.

Mark your calendars! "The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is notifying people across the nation about an upcoming total lunar eclipse that will appear for one night in March. This will be the only total lunar eclipse that will be visible from the U.S. for the entirety of 2025.
The eclipse runs from around 11 p.m. on March 13 to about 5 a.m. on March 14 with totality, or when the moon has completely changed its color, coming at around 1:30 a.m. on March 14 CST."
