Why chase eclipses??

"You don't just see a total solar eclipse. You feel it as the air cools and the wind changes speed and direction. You hear it in the cheers and cries of those around you and the sounds of insects and birds behaving as they do at sunset," said Astronomer Rick Fienberg. "It's among the most awesome experiences you can have on this planet - right up there with falling in love."

Just wrapped up an unforgettable time at the 2025 Total Solar Eclipse Conference in Belgium! 🌑✨ Grateful for the brilliant insights and passion shared by so many especially , and .Fienberg. Your expertise continues to inspire the eclipse community.

We didn’t just talk eclipses — we also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the Stella Artois Brewery, shared a special group dinner, and strolled through the charming streets of Leuven, taking in its rich history and beauty.

Here’s to good science, great company, and counting down to the eclipse in 2026 and 2027! 🌞

We're half way there!

On June 10, 2025, we marked the midpoint - 429 days since the "Great American Eclipse" and 429 days until the next one. The 2026 eclipse on August 12 will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, and Spain. After that, the next total eclipse in the U.S. won't occur until 2044. So, if you missed the 2024 event, start planning for 2026! It's a rare opportunity to witness nature's greatest spectacle. 🌙

429 days down, 429 to go until the next total solar eclipse.

In Memory of Fred Espenak (1953–2025)

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Fred Espenak—beloved astronomer, author, photographer, and “Mr. Eclipse.” Fred died on June 1st after a courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, leaving behind a luminous legacy that has touched eclipse chasers and science enthusiasts around the world.

Through his tireless work with NASA, his publications, and his personal outreach, Fred transformed how we understand and experience eclipses. He witnessed 52 solar eclipses in his lifetime—31 of them total—and made it possible for countless others to witness the awe of totality through his predictions, guidance, and passion.

Fred’s impact transcended data and photography; he gave the world wonder. Though he won't be with us for future eclipses, his path will continue to guide us—one shadow at a time.

The first solar eclipse Fred Espenak saw was electrifying. It was March 7, 1970, and Espenak, who had just earned his driver’s license, drove his family’s ca...

TQ Trip Leader/Astronomer Highlight! ✨

For more than four decades, Paul has been helping others discover the wonder and beauty of the night sky via his work at several Canadian planetariums and as an editor at Sky & Telescope magazine. While at S&T, he joined his first TravelQuest trip — a 2002 northern lights tour to Alaska. Since becoming a freelance astronomy writer/editor, Paul has combined his passion for astronomy with his love of travel, journeying with TQ to China, Turkey, Chile, Iceland, and Norway for eclipse and aurora viewing. He maintains that Iceland is one of the most amazing (and photogenic) places on Earth.

Throwback to Totality in the Outback! 🇦🇺✨

In April 2023, we witnessed 49 unforgettable seconds of totality from one of the most extraordinary places on Earth - Sal Salis Eco-Retreat on Western Australia’s stunning Ningaloo Coast.

For five magical days, our TravelQuest guests hiked limestone gorges, snorkeled vibrant coral reefs, stargazed under some of the darkest skies in the world, and experienced the eclipse from the comfort of their safari tents, just steps from the Indian Ocean.

No WiFi, no distractions - just nature, wonder, and once-in-a-lifetime memories. This was more than a tour. It was pure eclipse magic. 💫
