Kaua’i has many hidden gems around the island including this cove where you can frequently find sea turtles, or “honu”. However as visitors to the island, we must remember to treat these creatures with respect. They are protected animals in the Hawaiian islands with many threats to their species including disease, marine debris and unintentional killing/disturbances.

If you are lucky enough to come across a honu during your adventuring, it is recommended that you keep a distance of 10 ft while you observe their beauty. Ensure you clean up any debris that you bring in during your beach day activities. Also consider bringing a trash bag for your beach walks to pick up any trash that was washed up on the shore.

We encourage you to do your part to help maintain the natural beauty of Kaua’i while you enjoy your visit.

Happy Aloha Friday!
In the town of Kilauea, you can see this spectacular view and visit the Kilauea lighthouse. You can explore on your own or with a guided tour. You can also learn about wildlife preservation efforts on the island. You will need a reservation which is easy to obtain online. Pro-tip: While in Kilauea, stop in town and visit some of the shops and restaurants nearby!

Analytics aside, we believe this begins with a few Hawaiian words that elicit welcome, love, respect and appreciation: 1) Aloha, 2) Ohana (family), 3) Kupuna (ancestors, grandparents & elders) and 4) Aina (land/earth) The enjoyment of the simple things in life, appears crucial. Living on an island isn't easy, but Hawaiians seem to "keep the main thing, the main thing."

Please consider taking actions to help protect our coral reefs and the inhabitants. There are many ways to make a differece: Minimize your personal plastic use, use reef friendly, mineral sunscreens, dont touch or stand on the reefs. Being environentally conscience by using green alternatives goes a long way. Stay tuned and I will post some of my favorite underwater pictures.

Did some great snorkeling at Anini and Hideaways in August and early September but conditions are starting to change. Had a couple of days with surf… winter is not far off. Time to enjoy surfing, boogie boarding and whale watching.

We love the amazing beauty of the eucalyptus deglupta or better known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus tree. These trees are found in various Kauai locations, but most readily visible lining the Princeville golf course. It is said that if you hug the tree, you will return. We hug one during each visit. So far it has worked! Visit HollysKauaiCondo, hug a Rainbow Eucalyptus and return!
