We have a late bloomer! Now that the park is open again, this is a great time to see some of the most spectacular plant life on Maui!
The ‘āhinahina (Haleakalā silversword, Argyroxiphium sandwicense subsp. Macrocephalum) only blooms once in its life, and summertime is when there is at least a few blooming at once. By this time last year, they were already in full bloom, but they are about a month late this year so even with the recent park closures you still have a chance to see them! We expect they will be in full bloom by the end of August and won't start to die back until late September. The summit parking lot is where they are most accessible for viewing without hiking for miles or harming their habitat by going off-trail.
Any other late bloomers out there who want to celebrate these slowly shining celebrities?

Haleakala National Park is the #1 visitor attraction on Maui, and Skyline Hawaii's Haleakala National Park Sunrise tour is the #1 tour on Maui.
One year ago today, the devastating fires in Lahaina and Kula forever changed our island, our community, and so many lives. The scale of destruction was unimaginable, and the depth of personal and collective loss was beyond our worst nightmares.
August 8th is a day to remember all that was lost to the flames, and also to reflect on the strength of our community and the countless individuals and organizations who rose to the challenge to help those most affected.
Today, we honor the memories of what was lost and celebrate the incredible resilience and enduring spirit of our Maui ‘ohana.
Hug your loved ones tight and remind them how much they mean to you. Maui Strong.
Why 1% for the Planet?
Our organization was founded on the idea that a company has a responsibility to give back for use of our planet’s resources. More than 20 years later, we’re still helping businesses make good on their commitments.

Mahalo to all our Park Rangers!
On , we celebrate and acknowledge all the park rangers who protect and preserve places around the world. From making trails, enforcing laws, and cleaning up litter; to restoring habitat, managing wildlife, and educating visitors; rangers wear many hats. Restoration crews, wildland firefighters, educators, trail crew workers, law enforcement officers, scientists, custodial workers, and naturalists are just a few of the different types of rangers that play an important role in inspiring stewardship for our natural world.
First organized by the International Ranger Federation (IRF), World Ranger Day also honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice protecting visitors and resources.
Please send us a message if you have any questions, or call our reservations team directly for updates and information. Mahalo for your understanding and patience.

❗️❗️ Haleakalā National Park is expecting a busy week between now and July 7th ❗️❗️
Expect long waits at the entrance station and limited parking. Wait times at the entrance station may be hours long, especially leading up to sunset. Parking at the summit may close as it becomes full. Rangers assist with sunset parking at Haleakalā Visitor Center parking lot to accommodate the most people possible. Visitor vehicles may be temporarily blocked in due to double parking so leave extra time to exit after sunset.

Have you visited our neighbors at @mauiteafarm yet? What an amazing opportunity to learn about the native varieties of plants and their uses in Hawaiian history and today! And to taste some delicious teas in the crisp upcountry air 😋 #Repost @mauiteafarm with @get.repost ・・・ How visually striking is an illuminated, iridescent Māmaki leaf, with its prominent colorful veins and mosaic-like patterns. 🍃 Māmaki is Hawai'i’s own herbal “tea” plant in the “nettle” (Urticaceae) family. Fortunately it lacks the stingers found on European nettles. Throughout Hawai'i, different islands have their own varieties with various vein colors and leaf shapes, thickness and colors. As many of our akamai (clever) followers note, the māmaki varieties we grow were found in our region of Haleakalā thanks to @mauinativenursery and others). Māmaki is one of several plants (including ‘awa, ko'oko'olau, and noni) used in traditional Hawaiian herbal medicine, la’au lapa'au. Māmaki also has long standing uses in kānaka maoli (Native Hawaiian) culture beyond tea– its leaves, branches and wood being made into kapa cloth as well as into various tools (** we welcome your comments on other uses Māmaki outside of the tea realm 🤗). We’re sure others will be interested to learn more about this incredible plant. ....... #organictea #teatime #mamaki #mamakitea #tisane #plantsofhawaii #hawaiianculture #healthylifestyle #nutrition #teafarm #maui #hawaii #luckywelivehawaii #mauigrown #madeinhawaii
