Gracie got a major upgrade today - a new set of eyes! We replaced her old incandescent taxi and landing lights with brand new Whelen LEDs - SO much brighter, as you can see. Safety is our #1 priority here at Suncoast Biplanes and these lights make it much easier for us to see - and be seen!

Our beloved WACO biplane, Gracie, was all set to shine at the air show, and we know how many of you (kids and kids-at-heart 😆) were pumped to see her up close. So we’re planning special “Meet & Greet” sessions just for YOU!

Imagine sitting in Gracie's cockpit, getting hands-on with the controls, and snapping some awesome pics! 📸 Plus, our amazing pilot Gareth will give you a fun intro to aerodynamics—think Lift, Weight, Thrust, and Drag—and explain you how a real airplane flies! 🛩️

Well, quite a lot, actually! Let’s settle a little confusion about Gracie, our beloved WACO biplane. 🛩️

For the record, she is not a “WHACKO” (although air traffic controllers sometimes call her that…and maybe her chief pilot has heard it too 😉).

She’s also not a “WAYCO”… that’s a town in Texas, y’all! 😄

Gracie is a proud WAH-co—just like "WAWA" but way more glamorous! Help us spread the word so Gracie’s delicate airplane feelings don’t get hurt. 🥹❤️

We’re delighted to report that Gracie survived hurricane Milton without a scratch. Our hangar at Punta Gorda Airport is only a year old and so built to the latest code. It appears Gracie was snug as a bug as the storm raged. Just a few more days and her Annual Inspection will be complete and she’ll be back gracing the blue skies over Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf beaches.
