Time for a cool change.

When the rest of Europe was overheated and overcrowded this Summer, we sent this active family of four to the cooler climes of Scandinavia including Copenhagen, Oslo and Bergen. Some of the sites they saw along the way:

Our Director of Vacation Travel recently visited two Secrets resorts in Mexico, we do the research, so you don’t have to!

Secrets Moxche and Secrets Playa Blanca are perfect for couples and adults who want a relaxing, all-inclusive getaway. Ideal for honeymooners, anniversaries, babymoons, or simply unwinding. There are a couple of key distinctions:

Secrets Moxché Playa del Carmen:
• The pools, dining, and service are top-notch!
• Highly recommend the Impressions section for its butler service, stunning rooftop pool and bar (exclusive to guests of Impressions), and spacious rooms with breathtaking views. Bonus: there's a hot tub on the veranda!
• But the spa is fantastic—don't miss out on a massage and hydrotherapy session.
• Heads up: the beach had a lot of seaweed, so swimming in the ocean wasn’t an option.

Secrets Playa Blanca:
• The beach is the star here! It’s a gorgeous, calm, seaweed-free stretch of sand that's perfect for swimming.
• Highly recommend booking a swim-up room for the ultimate experience!
• This resort is brand new, having opened just a few months ago. While the spa and gym are still in the works, the pristine beach more than makes up for it.

Sequel Vacation Advisor, Karen, recently returned from a visit to Costa Rica with her husband and granddaughter on the Tauck Bridges Tour. They visited San José, Guanacaste, Tortuguero National Park, and Arenal National Park. This tour is ideal for families with children aged 10 and over, as well as active individuals of all ages who are interested in the abundant activities available in Costa Rica.

Although January through May is considered the best time to visit to avoid the rainy season, July through November is the perfect time to visit Tortuguero on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica to view the turtles laying their eggs. For this highlight, it's recommended to wear black clothing. Be prepared for heavy afternoon rains during the rainy season, bring plenty of insect repellent, and wear waterproof hiking boots.

Other highlights of their trip included ziplining and white-water rafting. They stayed at the Intercontinental San Jose, Aninga Lodge Tortuguero, Tabacon Resort in La Fortuna, where they especially enjoyed the hot springs, and El Mangroove Resort in Guanacaste.

We stopped by Cataloochee Ranch for a delicious meal and tour with GM, Terry Spalding. We’ve been itching to see this new (old) Relais & Chateaux property by the owners of the Swag, since it opened this spring. Now that we’ve seen it, we’re itching to go back and stay a while!

Not surprisingly, the food was amazing, and every detail of the interiors was thoughtful and gorgeous. We were struck by what a rich offering the property has for such a small number of homes and rooms available. They really aim to create a personalized experience for each guest. If little Jimmy really loves to fish, and little Sally really loves sour patch kids, what do you think they’ll find on their cabin porch when they return from a horseback ride or high ropes course?

This summer / fall is a great opportunity to visit, as some of their shared spaces are still being constructed (during the week only, so as not to disrupt the guest experience). We suspect their bookings will quickly fill and be harder to come by as word gets out. ;)

Come with your kids for some Smoky Mountain adventures, or come as adults for some food, wine, and front porch sittin’. Give us a ring!

The next spot on our “5 Places to Celebrate Your 50th” list is one that holds a special place in our hearts (and soon will in yours too). Blackberry Farm, a 4,200-acre sanctuary nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains is lovely to visit any time of the year. The food, accommodations, common areas (think: fires, wooden puzzles, music instruments, yummy snacks) are everything you'd hope for. Karen’s clients recently returned from a trip to Kenya and Tanzania, and they had experiences “they never dared to dream”. Last week we had the privilege of hosting a small group of corporate travel clients at S3 - Sequel Stakeholders Summit - in Pinehurst, NC.

This is our chance to hear from them, go deep on some topics in breakouts, hold a putting contest, and enjoy shared meals and even some golf and spa time.

Many thanks to our partner Delta Airlines for making this possible, and to Pinehurst for their warm hospitality. The newly renovated Carolina Hotel was a truly wonderful place to host this event - and we loved seeing the grounds being transformed for the US Open!

"Our trip to Germany and Switzerland was amazing! It was such an incredible experience to be with our kids and in such beautiful surroundings.

We loved all the hotels and the different tours you picked out for us. It was fun to experience each city with a different type hotel… and we enjoyed them being so close to the main city area. The hotel in Heidelberg was just adorable. I definitely want to go back there. And the one in Zurich was another favorite. Loved that city!"

Kim’s recent adventures sent her to Guatemala and Belize! In Guatemala she explored the colonial charm of Antigua and delved into ancient Mayan history at Tikal while visiting the archaeological sites.

In Belize she soared through the rainforest on zip lines and tubed into the mystical caves. Finally, she was able to unwind in Ambergris Caye and snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of Hol Chan.

In this case, the Monte-Carlo Masters, played on red clay at the Monte Carlo Country Club every April. Not a bad place to take in views of the Mediterranean with a Sancerre Rose in hand.

“The house was gorgeous, even more beautiful than the pictures. We’ve been to some very nice places, but this might be one of the nicest ever." -Summer

With comfortable beds, incredible grounds complete with fragrant blooming vines, citrus trees, and olive groves, this family of 6 + two sets of Grandparents, fell in love with their Tuscan villa vacation (thanks to Tina for her impeccable planning).

Days began with delightful breakfasts followed by excursions and lunches out. Returning to the villa mid-afternoon became a cherished ritual, allowing the family to unwind and enjoy quality time together before delicious dinners prepared onsite.

The villa's staff were absolute gems. Their warmth and hospitality added an extra layer of magic to the entire experience, making Summer's trip truly unforgettable.
