This calling, this passion, this dream was the start of Africa Dream Safaris (ADS). As other travel companies that offered african safari tours organized bustling caravans of minivans, packed with tourists, I saw them missing the true wilderness experience. An alternative became apparent to me: the Private African Safari. Traditional african safari vacation packages meant unpleasant congestion, generic itineraries, and bickering clients with competing agendas. The value of private african safaris became as obvious to me as a million thundering wildebeest. Here's what Tammy and Joe had to say about their safari experience: “We started our days before sunrise every morning, and saw so many incredible animal interactions. We saw hyenas heading back home after overnight hunts, mamas and babies just waking up for the day, cheetahs eating a fresh kill, a leopard with a kill up a tree, crocodiles fighting over a zebra carcass, a male ostrich dancing for his mate, and so much more. We had encounters with elephants, who would walk so close to the jeep, that we could see their little hairs and dirt on their wrinkled skin as they walked by. Being able to observe these animals in the wild was just incredible.”

Here's what Cheryl had to say about her safari experience: “Each day on safari is a new experience, and brings something different. We explored the grasslands, toured the kopjes, watched lions mating, cheetah hunting, hyena devour a kill, lion cubs frolic in the grass, and had herds of elephant move right beside our vehicles. Most days we didn’t see another vehicle, except when were at a picnic area, stopped for a bathroom break or arrived at our lodge, otherwise it was like the Serengeti was our own private park to explore. Explore we did, covering new areas and finding huge varieties of game and birds every day all along the way. There were several highlights for me personally. One that stands out is driving up to some lions and watching several cubs frolic around, then having more lions appear and the whole pride move up into a rock outcropping - in the slanting afternoon sun. With two adult males, half a dozen females and almost a dozen cubs it was truly an incredible sight. Like something right out of Lion King!”

All footage shot by one of our guides during a single 1 week safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro ecosystem in the shoulder season no less! We wanted to demonstrate the amazing wildlife opportunities readily available on a typical safari so we provided one of our guides a basic camcorder (Canon Vixia) and had him shoot along with his guests over the course of their 1 week safari. We think the results speak for themselves!

Here's what John and Dee Dee had to say about their safari experience: "We just returned from our 4th ADS safari and it was every bit as magical as our first. My wife was a little reluctant to return to the Serengeti again as she was concerned it could not be as good as the last…boy was she wrong! The main reason we chose to come to the Serengeti in mid-February was to experience the wildebeest calving season. We spent the 4 days following the Great Migration…tens of thousands of animals at a glance and wildebeest calves everywhere. We saw 3 births and the calves were up and walking within 10 minutes of hitting the ground. It was amazing!"

Here's what Scott and Maureen had to say about their safari experience: " Wow, did we see animals…uncountable numbers of zebra, wildebeest, gazelles and other antelope; dozens of lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and hippos; leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, crocodiles, hyenas, baboons, warthogs and so many more – 34 different animal species in all between the Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Manyara. We also identified over 120 bird species, from the giant ostrich to the little plovers – from the graceful crowned cranes to the goofy secretary bird, 5 different eagle species, oxpeckers feeding on hippos, rhinos, giraffe and more. It’s truly a paradise for animal and bird lovers.”
