I can remember working at the Alex Johnson 30 years ago just like it was yesterday. Nancy Engler hired me as her assistant in the marketing department. She served as my mentor and gave me the confidence to want to be better and live up to my potential. I will eternally be grateful for her leadership and support. While working for her, I was tasked with filling out the application for the George S Mickelson Award. She stressed to me the importance of this application and this award. The Alex Johnson was the first business to win the award, just 2 years prior, in 1992. Over the past 30 years, I have attended the conference and watched as my colleagues in the industry have won this award, all of which I respect immensely.

To win this award is an achievement that every business in the South Dakota tourism industry strives for. I have worked hard to cultivate a culture within my team to deserve such accolades. My team continually goes above what I ask of them. They truly take pride in providing a memorable experience for each and every guest. I cannot say enough about them! I hope they are all relishing in this achievement today!!

Thank you to all of my peers in tourism industry for recognizing our true commitment to the betterment of our industry!! This is only the beginning!!

Congratulations to my entire team for knocking it out of the park!! ❤️
