Beyond exploring the sweeping landscape of the Rockies, Camp Hale was once bustling with many recreational activities. The largest building at Camp Hale—the 18,000-square-foot field house—hosted ceremonies, basketball and volleyball games, boxing exhibitions (including one by world heavyweight champion Joe Louis), concerts, and dances. In March 1943, Warner Bros. was tasked by the US Army to create a 20-minute recruiting film for the mountain troops called Mountain Fighters. 🪵 10,000+ men took on a massive project. With no housing available, they built 88 barracks for themselves first.
⛺ Finished 226 barracks, a 676-bed hospital, 5 churches, 100 mess halls, and more in just 7 months.
📫 Included a school, theaters, a post office, and even a combat village!

Springtime in Vail, Colorado is more than just blooming flowers and melting snow – it's prime time for wildlife sightings! When you're in the region, be on the lookout for these locals🦌🦅

🔘 Beavers: Often found near waterways in Vail's wilderness areas, beavers thrive along streams, rivers, and ponds where they construct their lodges and dams.
🔘 Moose: Though less common than elk or deer, moose sightings have become more frequent in recent years in the Vail area, especially near water sources.
🔘 Black Bears: Shy and elusive, black bears inhabit the forests around Vail and may occasionally be seen foraging for food.
🔘 Birds of Prey: Various raptors such as eagles, hawks, and owls can be found in the area, especially in the mountainous regions, soaring overhead or perched in tall trees.

Remember to always observe wildlife from a safe distance and respect their environment 🌲

"When you walk in the door you immediately get a good vibe. The staff was welcoming, organized, and informative. We chose an unguided tour to minimize the cost to the young adults we had in our group. Next time, we go we will register for the guided tour after hearing one of the staff state they talk of the region's history. As for our experience... after 4 other days of skiing our young adults said that snowmobiling was their favorite part. The wide trails led to spectacular views. There were straightaways that satisfied your need for speed. The machines were state-of-the-art. My favorite part of the snowmobile was the heated steering and back seat hand guards. You'll love this experience."

👉 Operating at safe speeds—both posted speed limits, and your own! Slow down if there is low visibility, you’re on a new trail, or you're new to snowmobiling.
