The work on Goose Lake Road has been completed. We thank Kite Construction for cleaning up all the rock slough and making those switchbacks more passable!
The lake still isn’t accessible. There are large drifts two miles from the lake and the snow is hip deep about 3/4 of a mile from the lake. Many guests got stuck in the week before the closure. There is only one licensed tow service in the area willing to go to these remote areas and that’s Medina Towing out of Questa. If you decide to go, better have another buddy in his own rig and winches. 😉 And, as always, go very slow through wet or muddy parts on the trail as to not cut up the roads. Going around them to cut new trail makes a lot of work for the RROC, and damages more forest floor, so please avoid that, too. 🙏🏼
