George Washington, born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, was the first President of the United States (1789–1797). During the American Revolution, he served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army and was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He presided over the convention that drafted the United States Constitution and is called the "Father of his Country."
