TELLICO HATCHERY SEEKING INFORMATION ON VANDALISM AND STOLEN PROPERTY
The Tellico Hatchery is seeking information regarding recent theft of a Honda gas powered pump and vandalism. The pump is utilized to maintain water flow and protect intake from debris this time of year.
The vandalism and theft took place at the hatchery’s intake location off of River Road, on the north side of the hatchery between 11:00 p.m., Wednesday October 27 and 4:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28 EDT. The intake is critical to hatchery operations and the theft of the pump could have had dire consequences at the hatchery. The hatchery can hold upwards of 200,000 trout at maximum capacity, and it serves the region and beyond, impacting ecotourism as a trout fishery destination.
Anyone with information of the vandalism and theft should contact the Tellico Hatchery at 423-253-2661.
