Or Visit!

If you've decided to think about moving to Nevada but are worried about all the naysayers, here are 15 reasons why you absolutely should not move here.

Ahhhhhh! Looking at vacation properties off of VRBO and AirBNB...

Guys, if you are going to rent out a property please, please do it right!

Pictures--Oh my gosh! Towels straight, no glare, toilet seat down (for the love of God, DOWN!) Beds made properly, and on and on. People should want to stay there when they look at the pictures, not pick up some Mr. Clean.

Pricing--If you are not priced correctly you will get bad guests. So many, many hosts are offering their homes for way, way below its value. That is a recipe for disaster.

Descriptions--don't even get me started.

And if you don't know why any of this is problematic, contact me immediately.

Look, if you want to make some great money in short term rentals, it is a great time to get into the business. HOWEVER, you must understand that this is not for the faint of heart. You have to up your game. Think quality. Think thread count and amenities.

And just maybe, think about hiring someone (us) who knows just how to position your home for the best possible return. Trying to do it on your own, unless it is a full time hobby, is like trying to put in a car engine with no experience. You might do ok...or the engine might fall out in the fast lane.

If you have a beautiful home that you want to turn into a money making machine, give us a call. We can set up a complementary meeting.

Whew, what a year!

With everything going on in the short term rental arena--what with cover cleaning requirements, the always upwards trending standards for AirBnb's, and local regulations changing moment by moment (I just checked the upcoming standards that Washoe Country is proposing--we are already above and beyond their standards) it is a great idea to have a professional property manager in your corner. Not just any property manager, mind you, but one who is laser-focused on the short term market. Trust me, to do it right we have to have lots of plates in the air and it takes laser focus. But that is exactly what we love to do. In fact, I doubt that you'll find anyone In Reno who is willing to work with a vacation home owner--working around when you want to enjoy your home--keeping the home in top shape and making you money. If you have an exceptional home and want to see what we can do for you, contact us!

Good morning!

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of thinking about viruses and distancing. I mean, I’m still being good, but I am pretty much done thinking about it.

What have I been thinking about? Getting back to work!

I thought it would be a good idea to give you some background of the two primary movers behind Entrepreneur Vacation Homes, Etc.

First of all, Paula. She is the one who keeps everything running smoothly, bless her heart! For more than 15 years she assisted her boss and mentor in building a supply chain department for the largest private held home building company in the USA. What does that mean? She inspired the builders in each city to work together in placing their orders with the national suppliers. This enhanced their locations from small time, local impact into something that made heads of major building supply companies take notice. These were companies like Simpson StrongTie, Moen, Kwikset, Kichler Lighting, James Hardy and so many more. Both sides benefited, and their work made this one department more profitable by magnitudes, proving to be a saving grace (they greatly impacted the success of their company during the 2008 housing downturn). How vital was Paula to this process? When she left to move to Reno, her boss quit. She’s great at keeping lots of balls in the air and moving. This is a talent that is very necessary for overseeing short term rentals.

Then there is me, Jacque. I done such a weird variety of things…wife and mom, copywriter, housebuilder, outdoor guide…and my husband and I oversaw a multimillion-dollar resort for more than ten years. All my experiences and my I Can DO attitude make me very adept at overseeing properties, managing the people that keep things moving (housekeepers, handymen, etc.), hosting guests and helping clients be successful.

Paula and I have been friends for more than 30 years and we are excited in building this boutique service, bringing our long suites to bear for our clients.

Why boutique? We are looking for select properties and select clients. We will pour our hearts and souls into each and every property we take on. That is our commitment. Therefore, we want properties we can believe in and clients we are happy to spoil.

If you think you meet that criteria, give me a call—775-636-1920—and we can see if we are the right fit for each other.

A great perspective!

kinda off topic...but kinda not!

I've been praying with about 100 of my closest friends (lol) for the last week and a half. We all committed to keep 24-hours of prayer going for two weeks, each of us taking a time slot and praying at that time every day. It has been a blessing to my soul, to say the least. Today when I was praying....

Flatlining

That sounds ominous, but I don't mean it that way! What I'm talking about is our country's "numbers." Have you noticed that the amount of new covid cases is staying constant rather than increasing (alarmingly) day-by-day? HUZZAH! That means what we are doing is having a great effect!
We have to remember that when we look at the numbers there is about a two week lag time. Today we are seeing the results of what we did two weeks ago, and in two weeks we will see the impact of today.
I think there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Our days of staying apart are almost at an end.
So what are you going to do with the rest of your quiet time? It is pretty amazing, right? Have you gotten reacquainted with your family? your friends? yourself???
Just remember to keep dreaming and if part of that dream is putting your vacation or investment home on the short term market, give us a call!
Even with social distancing, we can talk. And, if we decide to work together your home can jump into the market.
It is a good day. Enjoy the sunshine. Enjoy the quiet, Enjoy yourself! And if you like, give me, Jacque, a call--775-636-1920.

Isolation Day 14: We had to call the fire department due to a “fault” alarm and the upstairs neighbors smelling something burning. We got three firetrucks, about half a dozen firemen (m…

I was talking with a friend yesterday, helping her work through a situation with her teenage son. He, like many teenagers is invincible. At least he thinks he is. But he hasn't taken the social distancing too seriously. So what if he gets sick, he's young, he's healthy. I told her to remind him that this isn't for him.
It's not. It is for all the people who it could impact in a very bad way. When I thought about that I got pretty overwhelmed.
Look at what we are all doing? We have put our lives on hold to benefit nameless people. Parents are homeschooling, graduates are missing graduation, I am waiting to meet my new granddaughter (and the rest of her family, of course), people are putting their livelihoods on hold. We are doing this to not cause harm. Someone, maybe someone we don't even know, could be harmed if we live our lives like normal.
On the flip side, people are going to work in order to serve even though it could put them selves and their families at risk. These are not the people who signed up to be heroes (although firemen, policemen, etc. are doing the same). No, it's the janitors, the grocery baggers, guy at the shopping carts wiping off every cart so that the customers don't have to worry, the truck drivers, manufacture workers, the ups guy taking packages with a smile, my husband working as a physical therapist, hands on his patients, because that's the need.
There has been concerns that we as a society have lost our souls. Look around. We have not!
Today I am more hopeful for us and more honored to be counted among our number than I've ever been. I am inspired, humbled, thankful.
We will get through stronger. We will get through this together.
God bless you!

It looks like we are all going to be here for a bit! While it's not a good time to make longterm decisions based on fear (it's never a good idea to make a decision out of fear), it is a good time to take stock and make positive decisions.

For example, better health, better relationships, goals...all of these can get shuffled aside in the rush of what has been life. So now you have time to think. Go ahead and dream!

No, things are not going to be like this forever. That is just not how life works. I remember walking through the woods once and, with a start, realizing that I was on a road. I could barely tell--the vegetation had taken over, there were even large trees in the roadway. I could only tell by looking way ahead at the grade to see where the flat meandered up the hill.

Like that road, our experiences, no matter how good or bad, tend to fade in impact over time. But we have the choice of where we walk. We choose our personal goals and dreams. We choose who to populate our lives with. We choose the thoughts to harbor.

Choose well! And if you decide to move forward with having your vacation rental make you some extra income, give us a call.

Here's an extra blessing for your day!

Here's an extra blessing for your day!

Well, the coronavirus has certainly been healthy for my blog. Silver linings I guess! When I was little, I absolutely loved the song “I know who holds tomorrow.” Still do, in fact, but …

Hello all!
Ah, the times we are living in!
Take this space of grace to rest, breathe, and consider--not things life usually give us the space to do!
We will all get to the other side of this--stronger and clearer thinking. We will have had the time and the space to take a good look at where we are, who we are and where we are going. We can adjust. We can focus. We can come out better versions of ourselves.
We are doing just that!
At EVH we are also taking the time to work on the nitty-gritty details involved in managing short term vacation rentals. When things in our wonderful world gets back up and running we will be more ready than ever to manage your vacation home!
Stay safe, stay blessed, and don't lick any doorknobs!
Best, Jacque
