Sitting here counting down the hours and minutes to the new year...
So before Mike and I take out the old, and bring in the new, we'd like to take the time to thank each and every one of our Monster Hunters crew of 2024 for a helluva Striper Season! Mike and I are so fortunate to have met such outstanding individuals... all the stories, all the laughter, the joy of the catch, but especially sharing in our passion for fishing. All of you made every minute of those 14 hour long days, and sometimes in not so favorable weather soooo worth it)
So, Cheers! Not just to the New Year ahead, but to the one that came before it ღ
Very much looking forward to fishing with some of you again, and of course, meeting new folks and making so much more memories…

New Regs for Hudson North of GW Bridge:
Just received an email from Jessica Best DEC:
Good afternoon,

The mortality of striped bass coastwide is still too high to promote stock recovery, there are more details here if you are interested. The interstate body that regulates Striped Bass coastwide, Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC), has required mortality reductions in 2024.

In the Hudson River north of the GW bridge, NY proposed changing the keeper slot from 18-28” to 23-28”. This was approved by the ASMFC striped bass board on March 26th. DEC will now move forward with emergency regulations to get the new rules in place by May 1st, as required by ASMFC.
In the marine district south of the GW bridge, the reduction will be made by continuing to use the slot limit (28-31”) imposed last year.
Regulations for the opening of the Hudson River season will be the same as they were last year (keeper slot – 18”-28”). You will be notified once new regulations have been adopted by email.

I know changing mid-season is not ideal, but the timeline of review and implementation is out of our hands.
