We aren’t going to promise hunters who stay at our lodging will harvest a deer. But they do literally come visit you.
We aren’t going to promise hunters who stay at our lodging will harvest a deer. But they do literally come visit you at the cabin.
Our lodging guests regularly comment on the enjoyable sightings of ducks, geese, deer, and other wildlife at our cabins. As an additional benefit we now apparently have a family of cranes who have moved in to our Mighty Pine Cabin. We aren’t sure if they plan to stay inside with our guests or just hang out in the yard. To reserve your stay with the Bob Crane family (we loved Hogans Hero’s) check out this link: airbnb.com/h/themightpine
Our winter guests regularly mention our sauna as one of the highlights of their stay. You can enjoy this feature as well with a midwinter stay at either the Mighty Pine or Walnut Cabins. Greater Richland Tourism recently shared this video with our Walnut and Pine Cabins prominently featured. Check out availabilities here: airbnb.com/h/thewalnut-ridge-and-valley-hospitality

We had a recent trip to Robin and Chad’s Goat Dairy as well as a stop at Carr Valley Cheese! Chad put everyone to work and we aren’t sure who enjoyed the trip more, the kid goats or the boys?
On a recent tour to Carr Valley Cheese and Chad and Robin’s Goat Dairy we put the crew to work. And we aren’t sure who enjoyed the visit more, the kid goats or the boys? For more info on how to book a tour just email us at: [email protected]
We kicked off the 2023 Farm Tour season yesterday with guests Bruce and April. The weather was fantastic, Robin and Chad’s goats were extremely cooperative, the sheep at the Weston Sheep Project were happy to see us and the cheese at Carr Valley Cheese was award-winning as always!
We went out to the UW-Richland Smart Farm on Dayton Ridge today and started set-up for next Friday's Snowshoe event. We hope to see you! The snow conditions and trails were absolutely perfect today!
You can reserve your Twilight Trail passes with us by going to our TicketSpice event. We also made a change-we now have a lowered price for those bringing their own snowshoes. It looks like this event is definitely a GO! The snow is perfect and it shouldn't melt between now and then. Come join us!

We took a couple of our lodging guests, Noah and Kira, to experience the madness that is “kidding season” at our tour partner’s, Chad and Robin’s farm. Hands on feeding the kids and milking the goats was on the schedule, the hardest part? Keeping track of which of the 35 kids had been fed and who hadn’t. Thank you Robin and Chad!
Snow makes us almost as excited as it does our Bailey. Snowshoe experiences are being scheduled right now and we will be announcing those here in the near future as we get the required snow.
I am wanting to "trial" a new tour offering this afternoon. The weather is fabulous and I love time in the forest! We have been developing a new "Forest Immersion" experience and will eventually offer them regularly with our other experiences but first, we need to work thru the process and get photos to build these experiences on Airbnb Experiences.
Here is what I am up to this afternoon-come to our short-term rental property at 3PM, 24115 on State Hwy 58 and I will give you a UTV ride to our secret forest destination, about a 20" ride. I will lead you on the "Forest Immersion" experience for about 2 hours and then come back, likely around 3 hours total.
During our forest immersion experience, you will be guided on our quest to practice the Japanese tradition of "Shinrin-yoku," also known by some as forest bathing. You will find our immersion experience to be a guided yet casual encounter where we hike off into the woods and leave behind our cares. We delve into the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest and allow it to speak to our spirits.
During your two hours, we begin with a time of intention and breathing and then warm up the body with a light hike. As we make our way deeper into the forest, we engage our senses and allow nature to minister to our souls. We engage in simple meditation exercises to get out of our heads and we spend time expressing ourselves with creative expressions. We will often walk in silence and seek to walk in "forest time."
We long to hear what the forest wants us to hear and we slow down enough to be observant. Toward the end, we take time to "sit spot" and allow the woods to do a slow reveal. A slow, patient sit is rewarded with new perceptions. We finish our practice with a tea ceremony as we transition out of the forest and head back into our normal life.
Our goal is to show you how you can continue to carry on this tradition in any forest. We provide you with gentle guidance, an engaging experience, and a short art proj
