Greetings from Mongolia! Guide Chris Close arrived this morning in advance of our clients who will arrive Friday for their climbing expedition to the Altai mountains. Ulaanbaatar is a thriving city rich with Mongolia’s storied history and enmeshed with urban culture.

It’s been rainy training here in Virginia for the last month. Since it can rain on the mountain, we don’t shy away from getting out.

It’s far better to reduce your new experiences on the mountain by training through different conditions in lower risk environments.

Learning how to move, stay dry, and self-manage is a valuable skill to make it through the mountains showers and come out on the other side with a smile.

Members of our June Kilimanjaro team and several other S2MA friends enjoyed a conditioning hike this weekend, passing by Corbin Cabin.

The cabin was built in 1909 by George Corbin, who was forced to vacate in 1938 when the land was sold to Shenandoah National Park.
