Great advice from Dora's Nursery

We hope everyone’s 2025 has started out great. We are expecting freezing temperatures this week in a lot of areas of Texas. Here are a few things we can do to protect our plants.

1) Deep water all your plants, in ground and potted. This will protect their roots.
2) Mulch around the trunks
3) Cover sensitive plants, use old towels, comforters but no plastic.
4) Anchor down those covers, it will get windy before it gets cold.
5) DO NOT cover your peaches, plums, apples, pears and apricots. They need chill hours.

New Year Jan 1 Hiking!

First Day Hike!!! Start 2025 where life is better...outside!
Join us on January 1st at 10am for a guided First Day Hike along the Old Entrance Road.
The hike will cover 2.25 miles starting at the Wildhorse Creek Trail, pass the old entrance then stop to enjoy the view at the Old Entrance Road Overlook before doubling back.
Meet at the group screen shelter parking lot in the Shady Meadows Campground.
Once we leave Shady Meadows there are no bathrooms or water fountains along the trail. Expect to be hiking for 1.5 hours.
Bring: water, good hiking shoes, and a hat
*All participants must remain with the guide throughout the hike as many of the trails will be closed due to construction projects in the park.
See you there; registration is not required!
