The Red Wolf Sanctuary is once again hosting it’s 5K and 10K Trail Walk/Run, Across their beautiful, 452 acre facility in Rising Sun, Indiana. The event will be timed but recreational runners and walkers are welcome. All proceeds from the event will be used to support the sanctuary and its endeavors to preserve native North American wildlife through environmental education and the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife.
The 5K is a beautiful course, the first couple of miles take you along the waterways, through wetlands and fields and the final mile takes you down the trail passed the large wildlife enclosures. If runners choose to take on the challenge and continue with the 10K they will at one point run up an over 240 feet in elevation in just under a mile. The 10K is not for the faint of heart. 🐺

RISING SUN/OHIO COUNTY, IN: We're saddened to hear that Rising Sun's "Rock Star" Bonnie Carrigan from Rock on Rising Sun, Indiana will be retiring from painting rocks after some upcoming events. We greatly appreciate all of her--and her fellow Rolling Stone helpers--talents and efforts in bringing and maintaining this fun activity in Rising Sun. Throughout the years, Bonnie has been recognized by the The 812 and the Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch for her volunteerism in launching and maintaining this event. THANK YOU BONNIE, the Rolling Stones, and all of the rock sponsors and "hiders" for providing a whole lot of fun over the years!

RISING SUN/OHIO COUNTY, IN: Ohio County residents can drop off their Hazardous Household Waste at the Southeastern Indiana Recycling District Recycling Center located on Barbour Way in Rising Sun this Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 11am to 1pm. Note the list of items considered HHW. All drop offs must have their original labels attached.

We will be wrapping up the Household Hazardous Waste collections this Saturday (August 17) with OHIO and SWITZERLAND counties. We will be at the Switzerland County Recycling Center from 8:00 am-10:00 am, and then the Ohio County Recycling Center from 11:00 am-1:00 pm.
