One of the biggest misconceptions about Panama City is that it is just another big capital city in Latin America and there is nothing interesting to visit. That couldn't be further from the truth. We like to call it a tale of 3 cities. Panama La Vieja (Old Panama) features the ruins of the original city torched by the Pirate Henry Morgan in 1671 and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Casco Antiguo is the colonial area where the new city was rebuilt and currently is THE place to eat and sleep in Panama City. Then there is the business and financial districts that comprise modern Panama City with skyscrapers rivaling those in Miami. Taboga, known as the “Island of Flowers” is the perfect day trip from Panama City. It’s about a 30 minute ferry ride south of Panama City, which is part of the phone. Once there you can walk around the small town, hike to the peak at the lookout point, and even see the second oldest church. But the main reason to go is to enjoy the beautiful beach which is within sight of Panama City but a world part!

The hotel site inspection that we did yesterday was at Panama’s most prestigious true Beach Resort - the Buenaventura Golf and Beach Resort. It’s convenient and easy to get to at only two hours from Panama City!

Today we continued our site inspections at one of Panama’s most unique and luxurious resorts - Islas Secas. They feature gorgeous single and multi-room Casitas with million dollar views of the bright blue Pacific Ocean. I tell all of my clients that I plan their tailor-made vacations exactly the way I plan my own. So when one of my best friends asked me to design a nearly three-week trip to experience the best of colonial Mexico, I planned out what my dream trip to Mexico would be and adapted it for his interests. He is having an incredible time and enjoying what is truly an amazing trip of a lifetime to Mexico, as he stated last night from his hotel room in Puebla. This same trip is now on my personal travel bucket list. He started out in Mexico City, went on to San Miguel de Allende, then to Puebla where he is now. Next up will be a private land transfer to Oaxaca and then on to Acapulco for three nights!
