We don’t hate or shame e-bike users. All e-bikes are welcome on our tours.

Saw a senior riding an EBike today.
“The boomers are coming, runaway runaway!!
Cheating! Not fair! They’re clogging the trail!”
But there’s a little bit more to the tale.

Due to the weakness that inevitably comes with age.
We thought we were done with the bicycle stage.
She has balance issues, and I have a bad knee.
Us? Riding bikes? We thought we’d never see.

With recent innovation, we’re now back in the saddle.
No longer feeling up a creek without a paddle.
Small electric motors have opened an old door.
We don’t have to sit on our backsides anymore.

We now enjoy the wind in our hair,
Well not so much me, as my head is now bare.
But it takes me back to my days as a child.
We were young and free. we were born to be wild.

So before you bemoan the old timers on the lane.
We’re just trying to have fun and not be a pain.
There’s room for everyone, we can all share the path.
The enjoyment of riding is all we ask.

Young roadsters and mountain bikers have nothing to fear.
We’re just trying to enjoy a few more active years.
Just go around us, we’re easy to pass
At least we’re not old farts, just sitting on our 🫏

Today concludes our 6 day Discover the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Tour! 🚴

Thursday started with a forecast of nasty weather, but thanks to our quick thinking, we switched our route south and enjoyed a beautiful, mostly dry ride through beautiful scenery. Afterward, we had a huge lunch at the hotel, followed by a relaxing afternoon exploring downtown, lounging on the veranda, or getting massages.

Friday, we wrapped up our week with a scenic ride north of Staunton through the countryside where most of the residents are Amish or Mennonite. Starting at Natural Chimneys State Park, we chose between a 34 or 39-mile route and later enjoyed a short walk to the top of the chimneys where there is a spectacular view. Our farewell dinner at Blu Point Seafood in Staunton was fantastic!

What an great week it’s been!

We’ve had an amazing few days on our Discover the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Tour! 🚴

Tuesday included a 36-mile ride through country roads, a wine tasting, and a side trip to the Blue Ridge Tunnel—a 2.25-mile walking path with a 1-mile segment inside an old railroad tunnel cutting through Afton Mountain. 🏞️🍷

Wednesday, some riders took the day off to tour Monticello, walk around the UVA campus, or take a scenic drive. Meanwhile, three of our riders tackled a 38-mile loop to rack up more miles. Afterwards, we relocated from Charlottesville to Staunton, VA, where we will pick back up on riding today!

What a great beginning to our Discover the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Tour! 🚴 Yesterday, we rode 39 miles from New Hope to Bridgewater, VA, enjoying the mountain views along the way. Afterward, we had a picnic lunch, relaxed for a bit, then ended the day with dinner at the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.

Well, after a week-long break, today we start our Discover the Shenandoah Valley bicycle tour. (The last in the spring series) Super excited to show these folks just how pretty it is in the Shenandoah region of Virginia. Not only do we ride bikes but we will also visit Monticello and go winery hopping.

After this week, I get a summer break due to heat and thunderstorm possibilities. I will spend my summer riding new spots and planning new tours. I also have big plans to open registration for the 2025 tours on June 10th. Stay tuned…

🚴‍♂️ Day 5️⃣ of Our 6-Day Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour! 🚴‍♀️

We had the best day yesterday, starting out with a 37 mile bike ride to Saxis VA and exploring the sights along the way. After the ride, we had a quick picnic lunch then headed for the boat docks where we took a 2 hour pony watching boat tour with Captain Mark from the Assateague Explorer Cruises & Kayaking - See Wild Ponies & Wildlife. Not only did we get up close and personal with the horses, but we had dolphins swimming around our boat as we came out of the harbor.

🚴‍♂️ Day 4️⃣ of Our 6-Day Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour! 🚴‍♀️

Yesterday, we completed a “Tour de Chincoteague” that included beach views, a stop at the Assateague Island lighthouse, and a ride to the Assateague Island Wildlife Refuge. Along the way, we spotted five wild ponies 🐎 running through the meadow and walked to a secluded beach. The rest of the day was spent lounging by the pool and enjoying the beautiful weather!

🚴‍♂️ Day Three of Our 6-Day Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour! 🚴‍♀️

Yesterday, we took a break from biking to visit Tangier Island, a small remote island off the coast of Virginia. Our guests enjoyed a golf cart tour of the island, visited the Tangier Island History Museum, spent some time at the beach, ate delicious crab cake sandwiches at Lorraine’s Restaurant, and then took a ferry back to the Eastern Shore—all in one day!

Today, we’re excited to explore Chincoteague Island on our bikes, hopefully spotting some wild horses along the way!

🚴‍♂️ Day Two of Our 6-Day Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour! 🚴‍♀️

Yesterday, we pedaled 52 miles through the lower end of the Eastern Shore Peninsula. Starting from our Tiny Homes in Cape Charles, we ventured down to the breathtaking Nature Preserve on the southern tip before heading north to our hotel in Exmore. Along the way, we enjoyed scenic rest stops at three beautiful wharfs, taking in the stunning coastal views.

Today, we’re excited for a non-riding day as we take a ferry to explore Tangier Island. Stay tuned for more updates!

🚴‍♂️ Kicking Off Our 6-Day Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour! 🚴‍♀️

Yesterday marked the start of an incredible journey throughout the Eastern Shore of Virginia! Our guests began their adventure with an afternoon tour of charming Cape Charles, VA. After exploring, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Cape Charles Brewing and capped the evening around the fire pit at our cozy Tiny Homes Hotel.

Had an incredibly productive and incredible day.

Woke up early to find the HRBT was a hot mess. My friend Becky Campbell invited me over for breakfast (which was delicious). While I ate and we visited, the tunnel traffic eased up. I breezed right through!

Went up to ESVA to get roads marked ahead of my guests. Got three days of riding all marked out.

Now I’m in Virginia Beach to finish final prep before my guests arrive on Sunday.

“Carol” is loaded down and I’m on my way to VISIT Eastern Shore, Virginia to prepare for next weeks Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour.

This year was so overwhelmingly popular, I’m offering two week-long Magical Mystery Bike Tours, LLC in 2025 the “Save the Dates” are on the website.

Over the course of the week, these cyclists will see most of the 70 miles of the Virginia section of the Peninsula as they ride from one scenic coastal town to another along the way.

We will be in Chincoteague Island for three nights taking in things that make this area unique like wild horses, sunset cruise, lighthouse climb, waterfront rooms with balconies, and of course, lots of delicious seafood.

The weather is looking spectacular so I’m so excited!

My mobile office today… they moved old furniture outside to be picked up but we quickly moved it to face the ocean. Enjoyed a light breeze while getting some work done today.

I still answered all e- mails that came in today while working on route prep for next weeks Eastern Shore adventure.

Next week will be a completely different tour from others we have offered. The riders will ride their bikes from town to town as we ride from the Ocean to Bay Bicycle Tour. Getting excited!

From Sunday until today, I have been showing a group of fourteen riders from seven states around Southwestern Virginia. We visited & rode around Roanoke then off to the New River Trail, staying in Wytheville then riding the Virginia Creeper Trail spend a day in Abingdon. Once again, my staff knocked it out of the ball park. I would be nothing without them.

One of the riders found this card while walking around Abingdon yesterday then wrote this note on the back. She gave it to me today before we parted company. 💕 Made my day!

I’m in the quaint little town of Staunton VA preparing for our upcoming June bicycle tour called Discover the Shenandoah. I visited the property we are staying and walked around downtown to capture just how special this area is. Here is a little photo collage in the comments. I will be creating a reel later. We still have two rooms left. All you need is $200 to register. You pay the balance in May.

This is such a good analogy. Cars will try to intimidate you with close passes. I’ve encountered my share of uncomfortable situations myself. We have a 3’ law on the books in Virginia but people are people…

My mission is to educate people that we are friends, neighbors, parents and grandparents. Our lives do matter… we pay the same taxes because we are also motorists. We can all get along!

I always do my part to make motorists able to get around any group I’m riding with. I also smile and wave. Little by little, we can change the culture between cyclists and autos for the better.
