We are blessed to have been spared from the devastation around us. This morning, our cell service and internet connections were restored. We expect to see many cancellations as even though our area is in good shape, getting here, finding gas along the way, and securing food will be affected. Surrounding us in Graham County, it appears that most businesses are making due, but will also struggle with stocking levels for the time being. So-stock up on food before and if you come. The forests are "closed" for assessment for the time being, but we expect news soon. If you are traveling from the West or South, you will be able to get here through Knoxville Atlanta, and Columbia as usual, The roads from Asheville to here are clear, but Asheville itself was hit hard. They are blocking entry from most main roads heading West from I-77. We recommend you check to insure your activities planned are possible and feel free to contact us for information. From the Northeast, there will be challenges. I fear that Interstate 40 on that side of the Smokies will take many, many months-if not a year to re-open. If you are inclined we ask you to keep the folks in the affected areas in your thoughts and prayers as many lives were lost and whole communities have been wiped out-some still awaiting relief with recovery efforts ongoing.
