Flame azaleas and fireflies. That’s what’s been on repeat lately here at Huffman Creek and it just doesn’t get much more magical. By day, it’s wandering through the towering bushes full of fiery orange blooms and at night, it’s retreating to a comfy spot on the creek while the magical little fairies dance among the late spring and early summer green in a dazzling array of flashes and blinks.

While this weekend marks the unofficial start to Summer, atop Hooper Bald on the Cherohala Skyway National Scenic Byway Spring is still in full swing. At Huffman Creek Retreat we have no shortage of moments and memories to be thankful for. So, as we enter this season of Thanksgiving (yes, it's just 10 days away!!!) We want to take this time to reflect on 10 things we're most thankful for. To kick it off, we begin with #1: Our guests. Year after year we have had the opportunity to welcome folks from near and far. In these past few years, it's become even more special. While the world has been a bit chaotic, time spent at Huffman has been the respite many so intensely craved. It has been a privilege to be a place where doctors, nurses, and tired hospital clergy can find rest. It has been a joy to hear stories of family members meeting for the first time outside by the creek. And it has been an incredibly humbling experience to welcome guests for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th time as they have journeyed from newly engaged to newlyweds to new parents.
