“How did your kids like Universal?”
I got that question a bunch, and I get it! I had thought we’d wait a little longer before taking our Disney-obsessed kids to Universal.
BUT…I think my 5 year old rode more in Universal than she ever does in Disney.😄
For reference: My 5 year old is about 44” and 7 year old is maybe 50”.
In complete honesty, if my youngest wasn’t yet 40”, I may recommend waiting a little for Universal.
But once they hit 40”, you’ve GOT TO GO!
Highlights for the kids:
🌟Harry Potter (we watched the movies before coming, so they were fresh in their minds & they loved the rides-Gringotts was a family favorite-And casting spells).
We’re currently in Disney, and they’re pretending to be Harry Potter characters & were on a playground playing “Night Bus” last night.😄🥹
🌟The Spiderman ride was a HUGE fave of the youngest, especially.
🌟Everyone loved the ET ride & High in the Sky Seuss Trolley. (Seuss Landing in general was great)
🌟Both girls loved Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges (us parents…not so much😂 )
🌟Aria went on everything that was a 48” height requirement & loved them, but was a little scared on Revenge of the Mummy.
🌟I imagined us spending more time in Dreamworks Land, but we just did the Trollercoaster & explored a little-I feel like maybe a year or two ago that would have been more of a hit.
🌟I wish we had more time there for shows, as we prioritized rides this trip. We were there for 3 park days & had 3 park, park to park tickets.
At first I thought 2 days was enough, but I’m SO glad we had 3 (and honestly left wishing we had more time/looking forward to when we return).
🌟Volcano Bay was amazing for our oldest, the youngest enjoyed the kids area & the wave pool, but it honestly was more of a hit for my 7 yr old bc the little one is still a bit afraid of water slides (she was tall enough for most, though!).
🌟Park to Park tickets are a must-The Hogwarts Express brings the immersiveness to a whole next level/They’re so close that it opens up so many more possibilities for your day.
🌟I loved not being hounded for Mickey sandwiches around every corner😉
🌟The wait times/crowds mid August were 😍😳🤩! I still can’t believe how much we did!
To summarize:
❤️I have a new insight that Universal is 100% for younger kids, with the caveat of really thinking 40” and above, it brings even more magic.
❌Don’t compare everything to Disney, sure our Disney-loving minds naturally do a bit, but each destination has its own pro’s.
📍Make it an Orlando trip, not a strictly Disney or Universal trip, when you can. (Christmas is an AMAZING time to visit, esp w littles & the Grinch😍)
🌎Universal will now 100% be a must do each year for us.
Comment “UNIVERSAL” if you’re interested in visiting/lmk any questions you have!
