The principle of Design Chef is Becky Olsen.

We started by doing simple web designs for non-profit organizations, then expanded in to offering services to not only give you a brand and a web site but also content creation, marketing and advertising. She graduated at the top of her class from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1998 with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Graphic Design. Now, Becky is completing her Masters of Fine art in Web De

sign from the Academy of Art University. Since 1998 she has been working full-time in the Graphic Design and Web Design fields. Her most recent work includes work with The Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, several of it’s Catholic Charities organizations, The Regional Center for Independent Living in Utica, document designs for DuPont, Joe Squared in Baltimore, Customericity in Rochester, Baltimore, Chicago and Albany, The Rochester Music Hall of Fame, Kodak and Xerox.

I am a mompreneur. I live in Rochester, NY and am relaunching my design company today at Carlson Co-work. I work with entrepreneurs, small businesses, and mompreneurs in two ways.

By doing website design and branding for them.

I'm a mother of an 11-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. We enjoy gardening, crafting, swimming, and traveling together.

Today I'm at the Lego exhibit at the National Museum of Play watching all the kids build vehicles out of the thousands of Lego blocks. It's amazing the creativity these young kids have! Lets hope as parents and teachers we don't ever discourage this problem solving!

Another reason not to opt for a free wordpress site... A friend was reading my blog this morning and an AD popped up at the bottom of the page for VW. What the heck?? I didn't authorize ads to be shown on my blog. But, since it's free I have NO CONTROL over it.

Things are slow! December is always that way it seems. I'm willing to do referral work this month. That means I'll do your graphic design work for FREE if you refer your clients to me in return. This typically works best if you are a b to b company and have regular clients that trust you.

Occasionally I see posts that say something like "I just saw the top 10 people who visited my page and I can't believe my eyes!" Those apps that claim to be able to show you who is spying on you are scams, when you click the link there will be a post on your page that shows the same thing. Don't click those links. It's a scam.

Why do businesses try to do their own web sites? I know it's cheap, but think of how much more knowledge someone with a Masters Degree in Web Design can bring to the table. Seriously, you don't know what you don't know and it could kill any chance of you making money off of your web site! A little investment in a professionally done site could make or break your business.
